our cat in a box…

IMG_6402

Before the offspring left for school on this very chilly Florida morning, they made sure to take care of their cat.  First, let me tell you that we have a very unusual cat.  He's friendly, loves to go for walks with us, feed the turtles at our nearby pond, ride in the car and ride in this plastic box.  Yes, I said he loves to ride in a plastic box.  He loves to be pushed at the speed of lightening in this very box.  Details shortly.

Anyway, it seems the children gave him everything they thought he would need while they were away for a few hours.

  1. A warm spot by the fire [blanket included]
  2. Furryy friends [no one wants to be lonely]
  3. Bottle of milk
  4. A phone

So there you have it.  Such little care takers.  Life is never dull here.

Getting back to the plastic box.  You may be asking yourself, "how did they figure out that Pom Pom the cat likes to ride in a box?"  Well, please remember I have a two-year old.  And this is one game he's found that works for both he and Pom Pom.

This is a Saturday morning for us.  Watch and laugh.

Go!!!

I kept waiting for our poor cat to jump out, but he just sat there.  At one point he started casually grooming himself.  Maybe this is the best compromise for playing with his youngest owner.  He loves his children so much, it's amazing.

Pom Pom, thanks for completing our family.

Seleta – This my first post on your amazing blog. I am a GA. girl and found your blog through a friend’s blog. I love-love-love your style and look forward to reading about your beach adventures. I must say I am a little jealous…..After growing up and living the ATL all my life I would love to pack it all up and move to the beach. Crossing my fingers it will happen one day! Anyway, thanks for all the inspring posts and one day when you have time I would love to read the story about your move to the beach. (A girl can dream!)

That really is funny. Most cats wouldn’t have any part of that….especially the independent Siamese ones. I have a strong affinity to Siamese cats. Seems that my oldest is allergic to cats though, so we are thinking of getting a dog. Trying to decide what kind??

Oh I just love your cat. I can’t get enough of him! If you posted a picture of that little darling every day, I would be happy. The first picture of pure contentment is just adorable! A-M xx

Oh Seleta, I love it. One of the things my son does with his boys is put them a blanket and run pulling them along till they giggle so hard they fall off. We think we have to buy them toys, I think this story would fall into the category of “I bought him a toy and all he played with was the box. smiles to you Kathysue

    Ok
I’ll admit that we have 3 barn cats, but I’m much more of a dog person. I do, however, really admire that blue-green cabinet in your family room.

Love it! I am confident our cats would run if we tried it on them, though Swaisie likes for us to push her around in the laundry basket at lightening speed.

Alright… I just have to leave a comment after this post.
I haven’t stopped by for a while and am just now reading the story about dear Pom Pom and his injuries. Reading about how much you and your beautiful family love this little fuzzball is just so precious.
I couldn’t help but tear up at each post about Pom Pom, and I think it is because on Thursday, we had a “kitty emergency” and nearly lost our little Zoe.
She sounds like Pom Pom in a lot of ways, and has completely changed my husband and I from “TOTAL dog people” to full-blown cat lovers (Note: Dogs still have the ability to melt our hearts).
Anyway, Mr. P is a lucky little fellow (DUH!) with so many people to show him true love with their hugs, and snuggles, and toys. And I am just touched by this story!
