blogging buddy

Pom Pom wants you to know that after we [collectively] tuck in the offspring, he's still very busy helping manage this blog late at night.  Here we are burning the midnight oil.  Yep, I'm showcasing my très chic "no make-up, glasses and robe" look while he takes a break from proof reading.  Notice his extended front leg in a hugging stance?  A trademark move of his.  It seems to always be the left leg, so maybe he's a lefty.

Occasionally he gets stubborn and refuses to blog with me.  This is when he lays directly on the keyboard and attempts a move he calls, the "hard core snuggle protest."

All in all he's a great assitant.  Never asks for a raise, never complains about the work load, doesn't call in sick, and always tries to make me feel good about what I've written.

Not bad.

Weird cat lady signing off.

ah, love it, seleta! i’ve got one of those here too. as soon as i turn my back i’ve got a sleepy kitten sprawled across the keys! (that is if she can crawl out of the kitchen sink, which is her other resting place.) thought of you today…got my jcrew catalog. glad you had fun with eddie and jaithan. loved reading about your adventures there. take care. pam

  2. A-M says:

Oh Pom Pom, you look exhausted from all that proof reading! Love the paw and the pose! You look so well now… it’s great to see you back doing what you do best! A-M xx

  3. joniwebb says:

aw = that’s so cute! I love cats!!! they are more affectionate than dogs in a weird way. people that don’t have cats don’t understand that.

  4. patricia says:

my son said the other evening – “mom” – just what are you going to do when bentley (our faithful canine) goes to doggie heaven – are you gonna be walking around with an empty leash?”
yep. I love the way an animal communicates with body language.

  5. PJ says:

Seleta, How CUUUUTE! I have three cats. One of them waits until I am getting started on the computer and then sashays between me and my access to the keyboard, kitty butt in my face. I speak to her repeatedly concerning the inappropriateness of this…but does she listen? Pffff!

  6. kathy says:

    I enjoy your blog.
My cat Leo does the same hugging motion with either paw. I love it. He’s my first cat, and I love him, love him, love him. Should you find the time, stop by my blog, I have introduced him to the blog world (it’s a few post down from the top).

  7. Kris says:

As a fellow cat lover who lives in a household with two little furry friends, I can appreciate having a constant feline presence while you are trying to type. Pom-pom is a sweetheart!

  8. MaryBeth says:

I am so happy Pom Pom is doing so well and is back to work. I am actually a dog person but I love anything that is willing to sit up with you at night and give you a helping “hand”. Super cute pictures, by the way, no wonder you have 4 kids, you look stunning right before bed. MB

  9. Kwana says:

That Pom Pom is so funny. I bet you could not find a better assistant for twice the pay! I know you could not find a more beautiful one.

  10. Lisa says:

What a cute kitty! I’m glad you have company when you’re working late.

  11. Seleta, I hate to tell you, but you hardly qualify as “wierd cat lady.” I won’t go into details as to what the qualifying factors are for fear of insulting someone, but you, my darling, are hardly it.
My adopted golden, Jack, pulls similar stunts, except he will actually punch you with his paw until you surrender!!

  12. C says:

Aw, that is too cute! What a wonderful blogging partner! :)

  13. Karena says:

Seleta, I love this, and wait until I send you a photo of Miss Belle! She does the same thing …plops right up in front of my computer to get attention while I am “working”

  14. Sadly, my black fluffy cat Frank is no longer. Hubby has taken over. When I sit blogging too far into “HIS” bedtime, he starts to poke and prod my laptop for me to “get off already” because the “clickies and lights” bother him.
At least a cat doesn’t talk!

  15. Debra says:

What a faithful companion. Such sweet pitures.

  16. haha so cute. jay-z says hi to pom pom! he does the same thing. he usually tries to type though…so bossy! he will stretch his paws out and type away. :]

  17. I have one of those only it’s whenever I try to read since I don’t have a laptop. I’m sure if I did it would be covered with orange and white kitty hair. Your guy is adorable.

  18. Molly says:

Love your blog…just discovered it (thanks to the fabulous Eddie Ross) last week. So much fun to read! I’m a stay-at-home mom to two little ones (my dream job!)… it’s nice to have a little something fun to read when the little ones are taking their naps. p.s. I love your style and you definitely have a great sense of humor.
    God bless,
    Molly from Minnesota

  19. karlene says:

Oh, Pom Pom, you reign!! I think that is adorable, speaking from someone who has a papillion over my shoulder. :-)
love the robe style!! You look so cozy.

  20. Melise says:

I have a similar posting buddy, my 20 month old! She usually lets her little hands sneak up to the keys and add a random space bar stroke or N or B in my typing! haha

  21. LindsB says:

Aw, he is so cute! I love cats and wish I could get one but the darn BF is allergic, so sad.

  22. deidra says:

    Very, very sweet.
Looking at that photo, I’m inspired to up the ante on my own no makeup, glasses, and robe look.

  23. Stacy says:

Ha! Can you please ask Pom Pom to tell his buddies Jack and Jill that dead snakes on my front porch are not gifts I enjoy receiving???

  24. Amy Davis says:

LOVE your style girl!! DO you mind me asking where you got your robe? I love it! It looks so cozy and the ruffles are fabulous!

  25. Joyce says:

I adore the first photo of you and Pom Pom. I did see the little paw hugging you. Too sweet! This photo is a keeper. xoxo

  26. Michelle S says:

I think this kind of dedication qualifies Pom Pom for a Fancy Feast dinner. As for “weird cat ladies” please refer to your Grey Gardens DVD for proper example. hugs, M

  27. Michelle says:

Oh PomPom, I think you need your own blog! :) Ha! Precious post!

  28. Renae Moore says:

Selena…you are beautiful and your kitty knows how to snuggle well! So cute…I’m more of a doggy person, but any animal that just oozes love is precious!

  29. Annette says:

I have often tried imagine how other people look like when they sit behind the computer blogging – now I know!

  30. Karla says:

I have one as well laying across my hand/arm as I use my mouse…I’m currently typing one handed because he’s doing such a great job keeping that hand warm.
