autumn delight

Picture 2

Where did October go?  I feel like I woke up and it's November.  In a way, I guess I did.

Since moving to the beach, fall has become one of my favorite seasons.  After suffering through steamy hot summers with endless humidity and crowds of tourists, the crisp air and quiet streets of fall bring a welcoming breath of fresh air.

So I'm going to savor every minute of fall.  I refuse to get sucked into the retail trap and skip straight from Halloween to Christmas.  What about Thanksgiving?  It's a season of delicious comfort and time well spent with friends and family.  Pies, casseroles, hot apple cider, turning leaves, fireside chats, chic scarves, tartan blankets, hay rides, festivals…

Bring on the fall goodness.

Beautiful inspiration this morning! If only your blog served Apple Crisp! :-)
I think I’m going to take some time to let my kiddos jump in the leaves- really smash around, get all kinds of leafy and live it up. They are ALL on the ground now and as soon as it dries up it’s going to be a leafy hay day. Or a Leaf Day. Yes. That’s it. :-)

My seven year old daughter and I were on our way home the other day, and she noticed some stores had Christmas displays and lights were even going up outdoors. She asked me if people knew they were forgetting about a very special holiday – Thanksgiving. It’s a shame not everyone can think like a seven year old. :) It was also a good remider for me to live in the moment.
Fall is definitely my favorite time of year – September through November is simply gorgeous here. Our weather this week has hovered around 60 (warm for us!) and we’ve been outside enjoying every second of. Once the cold comes we’re inside for a loooong time!

I just saved at least half of those photos. I’ve been in the fall mood, so I think I’ve done a pretty good job savoring it so far. still have a craving for some apple cider doughnuts, so maybe I’ll attempt those soon.

Living in San Diego we have to travel a bit to see autumn leaves. Nonetheless, I like this season and look forward to cooler evenings and preparations for Thanksgiving. We used to decorate for Christmas on the 24th of December and it became a magical, festive event. I think I will go back to that…

Love the cozy fall images. One of them has an item I continue to search for…the Le Creuset light blue teapot (not Caribbean like they’re selling in the stores now). On the wish list!

I love to take one season at a time. There is a radio station that began playing Christmas music on Nov 1st. How tacky!

Those orange & white plates are gorgeous. Forget eating off them, they look good enough to eat!
I’m enjoying the rest of the fall by picnicing on our new lush backyard grass. Also, going to the park in shorts (we live in the desert where this is common in November), and snuggling with my four kids.

Um….it would be nice if it was still fall here. (Austria) It lasted about 2 weeks! We’ve already had some snow and my wonderful red, yellow and orange trees are beginning to kick the bucket! Jealous.

I must admit, after Halloween I start thinking Christmas. Though I don’t think any decorations should be up before Nov 11. But our Thanksgiving is in October so we don’t have another holiday to tied us over until December! =o)
