To set or not to set? That is the entertaining question.
Continuing from my last post on easy breezy summertime gatherings, here are a few silverware presentation ideas I found. This first one [above] has my vote. Organized, simple and colorful.
If you're going with "set the silver," this fun place card which is resting in the fork offers a playful touch in lieu of any fussy formalities.
Love this ribbon effect. You could do an array of looks with this one!
Here is a more rustic vibe…although I'm worried it might be tricky for guests to get access to their silver without a painful little snap! Maybe a glass of wine would be in order prior to attempt?
There's just something about sorting silver that makes a gathering look so styled…as if you went to a lot of trouble. Personally, I think it's far easier than setting the table. And you can never go wrong with a basic, all white grouping such as this.

Totally agree with you Seleta ~ one of my favorite little tricks for dinner parties is to sort the silver in pretty glass jars…

These are great options – I love the first one and the ribbon wrapped one!
Love all of these ideas but you’re right, the elastic bands are a bit finicky.
I have an old wire caddy shack that my cutlery goes into which everyone loves, easy does it!

who knew silverware could be so pretty in little containers! Thanks for the inspiration.
Hi Seleta! I entertain a lot and and most always serve the food buffet style. Its just easier that way for a casual dinner. Anwho, I always have my silverware in mason jars. I started doing in a few years ago and one night recently didnt put the jars out (just forgot) and my friends were upset! So I had to bring out the jars just for them :) Its something cute that I started doing and am now “known for” within my circle of friends.
Im headed to Watercolor Friday. SO ready!
Love It!!! Love them all :)
loving these last two posts!!! they make me want to get outside and plan a garden party like mad. so visually inspiring, nothing like a big group of friends, all ages, outside with flowers and the smell of summer, bbq, lemonade and all in a beautiful setting like you’ve shown here!
The simple velvet ribbon is fab! And easy..possibly. Time to get a garden on the double.
Love the fun easy feel of the first picture. Just looks like summer to me!
Hi Seleta, these ideas have really hit the spot with me. LOVE LOVE LOVE the first one. In fact off I go to the garden store and Michaels, I am going to do bright red pots, which will look great for Memorial Day, but how cute on an orange table as well…thanks so much for always inspiring!
My new apartment is lacking cabinet drawers, I love the idea of displaying my utensils out the open like this!
I am of the informal mind set, and my cutlery is in a caddy on the counter. When my dad comes to visit, he loves it. He says it’s easy on the drawer, not having to open it every time for a spoon.
Love the flower pots!
Best,
Michelle
Loving your party posts! Such great inspiration for this summer!
I’ve never seen the rubberband idea – very clever. My favorite is the colored cachepots. Happy entertaining!
Love these ideas, I also use the monogrammed intitial mugs from Anthropology. I bought 3, one with an “F” for the forks, “K” for knives, etc.
The ribbon wrapped around — hands down my favorite! Looks elegant yet casual. I love that you’re thinking about entertaining…makes me realize I need to get something on the calendar!!
Thinking the first option would be fun for our cookout this weekend.
Love these!!!

Love the first and the last. Grouping flatware together looks adorable and makes things so much easier! Plus, it’s nice because you could use it for appetizers, main meal, and then again for dessert. Less planning ahead required!
I LOVE the first picture (and the last for that matter).
Nothing is better than a summertime gathering!
All lovely ideas. My favorites: 1st and last!
