I receive many emails and requests for me to blog about different topics – everything from boudoirs to baby food. I was excited to receive this recent note because I have the perfect shower inspiration to share!
Dear Seleta,
I was wondering if you would do a wedding or bridal shower post. Our daughter is getting married in October. Such a beautiful time of year! We are going with an earthy feel. Some burlap and soft greens and pale oranges. She is getting married in a mansion in the beautiful small town of Granville, Ohio. We know the look we want but just not sure how to put it all together, especially the food stations, Any tips?
Thank you so much,
Julie in Ohio
Julie, I think you'll find the ideas in this shower to be just right for your colors and mood. Although these pictures are actually of a baby shower, I believe many of the organic components can be spun into a lovely shower for a bride-to-be. Just add a dash of your pale orange accents!
Cupcakes on cake pedestals and cheese cubes on cutting boards? Pure delight! This helps keep all of the groupings organized and also adds another layer of texture.
I happen to think finger sandwiches are just about the best nibbly treat one can have at a shower, be it bridal or baby. Plus they're so dainty and graphic when carefully stacked such as these.
Obviously these sweet baby pin embellishments on the soda bottles elude to the shower's theme. To change it up for a chic bridal vibe, simply use ribbon with a sewn on button on each bottle. Lovely!
Now on to some other shower ideas to add to your organic theme…
This beautiful cake is from another post and was created by Chelsea at frolic - don't you love it?! I think the whimsical style could be perfect for a shower with burlap accents and touches of fresh green. Love the way Chelsea used the Rosemary sprigs as a type of winding garland on the cake. This elegant touch could work well with any type of seasonal small flower.
For parting gifts, simple boxes filled with treats could be a nice autumn touch…pretend like these cheery green boxes are topped with a soft orange tissue flower!
Another nice parting gift would be miniature labeled cookie jars with tiny cookies or treats inside. See details on the idea here. Pick up the cookie jars here.
Good luck with your daughter's wedding, Julie!

Wow, I love the cake decorated with rosemary! Love it.
And such a great baby shower inspiration!
I love that shower. I’ve always liked the idea of using wooden boards. It adds layer and looks interesting but not overdone. The cake came from my blog. The link is: http://www.frolic-blog.com/frolic/2010/06/wedding-diy-homemade-wedding-cake.html
Thanks!

Everything here is so beautiful!!!
What a beautiful day! I will admit I love as in LOVE white serving platters when entertaining, it just makes the food pop and adds a cleanness to the table. Best of luck to the Bride 2 Be!
Thanks, Seleta!!
Excellent party tips ~ all of it looks so inviting, simple, and organic!
This is such a delightful concept! I love the little gift boxes topped with little pink flowers, lovely! xx
With or without the addition of the orange (a personal favorite color of mine year round), the setting you’ve suggested-as well as how to present it-is lovely. Simple.
If I had to pick a few favorite elements they’d have to include the tiered stands, the sodas with the ribbons wrapped around them, and the dainty gift boxes.
I’m sure Julie in Ohio is thrilled to bits.
We’re conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments. But great moments often catch us unaware – beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.
Really wonderful photos, Seleta-
great ideas! All looks so fresh and tasty!
Enjoy your day!
Hugs, Ines
okay…can I copy everything? I’m hosting two baby showers in August. So lovely!
Soo pretty – love the neutral mixed with the pastels. I’m a huge sucker for burlap.
