semi fashion post

Loved your responses on yesterday’s post. I thought it would be fun to follow up with a few non-hoochie early fall looks that I DO like.  What’s funny about this post is that a) I’m out of my league blogging about fashion and b) I started researching fall looks I like and ended up in a strange place.

Just watch.

I love stripes and jewels, even though 99% of the time I dress painfully basic.

Anything ladylike or tailored appeals to me, and as a result I own a few too many white oxfords and ruffled items. I also have a lot of girly jackets.

Strangely, I’m a huge fan of ties and my favorite outfit I wore last winter was a crisp white oxford with a skinny tie topped with a cashmere short sleeve sweater with jeans and heels.

Love this current fall look with the tie.

I’ve had this image for a while.  Love.

For the record, I’ll take skinnies or tights instead of thigh high socks, please.

Here’s where the post takes a slight detour. As I continued my fashion search I thought “maybe it’s smart to check out some fall runway shots.” [thinking I could find some pretty things]. I previewed Chanel and fell down laughing because I spotted these crazy boots and they are totally Pippi’s L E G S!!!

For all the newbies, Pippi is our goldendoodle who sports a punky poodle cut.

Voila.

A better angle with her smiling.

Then I found this picture which made me realize my love of Afghan Hounds has subconsciously transferred over to Pippi’s shaved muzzle and long ears. But she’s such a tomboy that she doesn’t care…she actually likes the shorter hair.  Sidenote: someday I’d love to have a rescue Afghan Hound. If they even exist?

And there you have it.  Somehow I totally distracted myself right out of clothes and into coifs for canines.  Guess we’ll have to leave the serious fashion posts to experts like her and her.

I totally disagree! You have fierce style !!! Love everything you picked out including the afghan hound. I’ve copied several outfits you have put together on your blog. And Pippi’s hairdo couldn’t be any darn cuter:) Hope you keep the ideas coming!

I actually think you have great style so keep on posting. I always love your fashion posts and I love all the photos and think they are all stylish choices. My favorite is that Pippi is wearing the furry boots. I think that is hysterical!!! It actually looks like she is wearing them. Just a note that the Afghan Hound is the dumb blond of the canine world. Did you know they were dead last on the dog intelligence scale? Good thing they have a pretty face!!! So if you decide to rescue, be prepared to repeat yourself….alot!!!! LOL.

I love the first photo, too.
But. Funny story. Last summer when that skirt shape came out, the sales lady at JCrew told me, ‘you can’t pull it off unless you’re seventeen.’ Isn’t that a riot?

When I was in Nordstrom last week, two women were cracking up over the Chanel boots. They called them Chewbacca boots! It was very funny. Here in Seattle they would look like a wet, matted dog in no time at all. Only Pippi can pull this look off!

I love stripes and jewels. The first outfit is fun! Pippi is absolutely adorable. What a beautiful dog and she looks like she is busting out with personality. Those boots are a hoot!

I love me some Pippi too. She is way better than an Afghan hound…there are two in my neighborhood and they look like a rug on legs because they are so flat. The coral jacket picture…lovin.

Ditto on all the comments about your Pippi girl. Every time I see a pic of her, I smile. What a sweetie. I used to have an Afghan hound and they are fabulous creatures.

On a more fashion-centered note, two things I will NOT be wearing this season are over the knee socks and a furry vest. But I love the tie. I used to wear a tie years ago and it’s a very crisp look. Really like the chunky, wooly ties.

Love it! I was in a fashion show at the mall as a little girl and I was dressed in a crisp white shirt, flouncy skirt, vest, saddle oxfords and a tie. I bawled because I didn’t think it was girly enough and I though people would mistake me for a boy. But with a few minor tweaks, I’d wear that outfit now!

Those boots look exactly like Pippi’s legs! And I’ve never noticed before but she does sort of favor Afghan hounds with her stylish haircut.

One more thing – the girl in the photo with the Afghan looks like a Lindsay Lohan (when she’s clean) and Katherine Heigl hybrid.

Willow (my king charles spaniel) and I are loving Pippi’s hair cut. She’s so stylish! Willow has a golden retriever brother who would give us dirty looks if we gave him that haircut. You go Pippi! Speaking of dogs and fashion, do you know the best spots to find fall dog apparel that doesn’t involve pink, sequins, or crowns? Just looking for some classy sweaters or coats for my little spaniel. It’s her first winter at our home.

You could easily do a version of that first outfit that was less glam and easier to wear! I’ve seen skirts like that EVERYWHERE this year.

Um, I LOVE Pippi! She looks like she has so much personality! She’s like your little knock-off Afghan Hound.

Love the lilac bag!!! Is it from J. Crew?
    Pippi is darling!!!

Love the reference to your dog. I never would have compared the boots & Pippi’s “boots”. Who knew your beloved pooch was so in this season? Thanks!

The first image, last image, and smiling Pippi image are all my faves! I’ve always liked a really layered, eclectic look of the first and the sophistication/luxury of the last image is so beautiful!
