snazzy sack lunches

I’m totally impressed with this fun food over at another lunch.  It’s a blog showing the daily creations of lunch packing enthusiast and and mom of four, Melissa. These aren’t just any lunches, but totally out of the box [pardon the pun] and waste free.  I especially love the way she’s giving back and completely dedicated to wonderful causes like this one.  Wow.

What little person could turn down these marvelous minnie meals?

Lovin’ this stainless steel number. So eco friendly, orderly and mod.

A slice of cheese in the shape of a chicken?  Why, of course.

Inspired by Melissa’s tasty creations,  I tried to get a little imaginative with our brood at lunchtime on Sunday.  Don’t laugh too hard.

THEIR LUNCH: heated whole grain tortilla wraps with organic cheese and nitrate free ham, organic carrots, whole grain goldfish, sliced olives for eyes, and an oreo as a peace offering from my healthy food obsession I project onto my children daily.

Apparently they liked their lunches so much that the girls brought in their dolls to join the picnic…a true testiment to their meal satisfaction.  Here is our eight year old pretending to feed her doll.

We busted out our tent for extra picnic fun.  The ancient calculator is a hoot…they found it in a box of old office items and deemed it their pretend laptop.

P.S. this tent was a Christmas gift four years ago and the offspring have played countless hours in it.  I like how it folds up into nothing and can be neatly tucked away in a closet in mere seconds. Great idea for a kiddie present and only costs 10 bucks. The picture is linked.

For other lunch inspiration, I always get a kick out of funky lunches.  Brings out the kid in you.

These are really impressive, although they do make me feel a bit like a bad mother for not making enough effort with the lunch box.

Talk about a great way to get kids to teach kids to “eat with their eyes first” and to eat healthy food and love it! :) Very impressed with those lunches – the detail, oh my! Not sure if that would happen for me (daily anyway), but lovin how those gorgeous lunch boxes (especially the stainless steel one!) show off the beautiful food. Your lunch is adorable, I don’t blame them for loving it. And LOVE your shoes!!

I love, love, love the creative lunch ideas! Maybe something like that will inspire my picky guy to eat something other than PB&J without causing a scene.

Hey friends, thanks for all the great comments! Glad you like these fun lunches.

A few of you have asked about my shoes in the picnic picture…I picked them up on the clearance rack at Marshall’s. And absolutely love them. Believe it or not, they are super comfy! I’ll do a post on them if I can locate some more for you all.

I’m not surprised that people asked about your shoes – they are fabulous!
I am always buying my lunch (or on the Special K diet) so these appealed to me greatly. I don’t have kids, but if I do then I will certainly hope to be this creative.
