This holiday, I thought it would be nice to create a thankful tree with the offspring. It was our project just before sunset yesterday, and involved a nature walk and some hunting for the perfect branch…
Found it!
This little guy was living underneath the branch. He gave us a good startle.
Ingredients.
Production.
When it came time to make our thankful tags, I took each child aside and gave them a tag and pen and told them to write down one thing they were thankful for. I was excited to see what kind of creative answers they would dream up. It blew me away that each of them wrote the same answer.
Our finished tree. We filled it with all kinds of thankfulness.
I’m so very thankful.
P.S. I tried photographing our thankful tree in front of my favorite Quadrille toile (still waiting on the perfect place to put this) but it was hard to see the branches. Still I had to show you the fabric!
Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!!

Very nice and sweet.
Happy thanksgiving and blessings to you and your family.
Such a sweet idea – and it’s amazing that they all realise how important family is at this young age – they got their values in the right place ;-P
The toile fabric is beautiful – can’t wait to see where you put it.
What a lovely tradition to start…love it!

That is so sweet that they all wrote their family! :) They are so cute.
That is an awesome idea. But than you always have great ideas:)
What a lovely family project and amazing that all the children wrote the best answer. I am enjoying you blog! XO
Lovely! A great idea for the children. Libby
What a terrific idea! Adore that all of your kids wrote down their family. Love the toile fabric, too!
This is a lovely idea and reminded me of something I once used with my pupils. The tree (branch) was up in our classroom all year and the children would write down things they had been successful at on paper leaves. By summer we had grown a very leafy tree. How lovely that your children could all recognise how important and special their family is.
That’s a marvelous idea, and so – typical Seleta – stylish too!
A great Thanksgiving weekend to all!
I love your thankful tree! How sweet that all of your kids wrote “family”. It’s wonderful that at such a young age they realize the importance and value of family. You’ve raised them well, Seleta. That fabric is gorgeous. Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving.
I loooove this, Seleta! You have such a great way of creating meaningful traditions in your home. Your children will always remember them!
I hope you’re enjoying your weekend.

This is so sweet it made me teary! I spent Thanksgiving sadly alone, my husband is in Afghanistan & my family, of course, in the States. It truly all boils down to the fact that there is nothing in this world like family, & that’s just what I’m thankful for too! Happy Thanksgiving to you & your sweet family!
Lovely tradition. Your family is blessed to have you.
Love your daughter’s headband in that pic! Hope you had a wonderful holiday.
I wish I had known about your cute tree when I posted about mine. I would’ve loved to add a link to show people a more creative, natural way to do it! I love the nature walk and hunting for that perfect branch. And such a cute bucket!
Blessings,
Linsey

I love this! What a great idea and tradition to create with the family! It really brings the thoughtfulness back to Thanksgiving :)
Love this idea Seleta! We are doing something similar during the advent season. We will read different stories and write the different names of Jesus on a star and hang on the branches.
Thanks for chiming in and sharing your thoughts, everyone. It warmed my heart. : )
