I think we can officially say Christmas is in full force! Are you enjoying your holiday parties and soaking it all in…or scrambling like mad to get your list done? Maybe a little of both?
We went to our first Christmas party last night and had a great time. It was a mostly “grown up” party, but older children were invited too. As a treat, we took our girls along and left the boys home with a sitter. At one point during the party, I told my oldest daughter, “this is the kind of thing mommies and daddies do on date nights.” She quickly replied, “Then I LOVE going on date nights!!!” To be fair, I promised the boys their turn with us would be very soon.
It’s been in the 30′s during the evenings here at the beach and I have to say I am loving it. Feels more like Christmas when it’s cold outside.
I’ll confess to being a little behind on decorations thus far. If you’re still trying to put up a few decorations and need some inspiration, check out these helpful tips at My Home Ideas. Right here. Love all of their simple and elegant touches that can be done in minutes.

I am taking a more minimal approach to our decorations this year – somehow Charlie Brown was ahead of his time with that wonderfully simple tree.
Wishing you simple joys of the season with your family (and on date nights too!)

Hooray for cold air ti make it feel more like Christmas! I’m thankful for a touch of the same here in Houston!
I adore the wrapping paper in that first photo! I’d consider that a gift in and of itself!
Merry, merry!

The tree in our house will go up on Friday and I am counting down the hours! I am really excited about Christmas this year – more than any other year that I can remember! Photos, as always, are wonderful.
After I’ve sent my last packages off today, I am actually done! Tree is standing (silver theme this year) and the outside lights are mounted (we did that in 80 F weather)….
I am ready!! Where are those darn Santa cookies?? Have a great pre-Christmas season!
Our first ‘date night’ Christmas party was this past Saturday and it finally succeeded in moving me past the harried rush of the season and putting me firmly in the Christmas spirit. Thanks for a great post. Roxanne
Wow 30′s. Can’t imagine a warm Christmas. Its been very cold here in Scotland. Last week temperatures dipped to -17c with many people stuck for two days on our main motorway between Glasgow and Edinburgh. The country ground to a halt with our airports closed etc.
When its like this you just have to stay in and wonder at how pretty everything is.
Soooo Christmasssyy!
The top photo is so peaceful. Its snowing here in Mammoth, CA but I am headed back home (hopefully) to warmer beach weather today.
