horse play

My horseback riding trainer, Allison, asked if I could help her style a cozy townhouse she’s moving into before she travels to Belgium to ride this summer.  Of course I said yes.  It’s just a six month home, so we’ll be keeping the budget slim.  But we certainly don’t have to sacrifice style!

When I tried to think of inspiring images to send Allison in order to feel out her style, I immediately thought of Windsor Smith with her equestrian inspired interiors.  Windsor’s elegant and timeless design approach fits the bill for this project.

Allison has a unique collection of artwork from her travels, so I can easily picture us doing a simple gallery wall.

I can also picture using a soft blue tone on her walls in one room.

Perhaps blue walls in her office area.  Pretend this is a desk instead of a vanity in a fabulous bathroom.  Or just enjoy looking at this fabulous bathroom.

Her kitchen has black granite countertops, so I can imagine bringing in some modern white to offset the dark.  Stacks of white dishes, maybe a graphic runner in the kitchen.

I haven’t seen her space in person yet, so this is me just thinking out loud.  I’ll keep you posted on our progress.

Giddy up – the weekend has finally arrived!

**Many of you have inquired about the light blue paint color in the sample above, it is by Sherwin Williams – Colors of Historic Charleston – Verditer Blue DCR 078**

wowwww…I’m pretty sure that I could use that kitchen in the last picture. I’m working up to some switcheroo in ours, but there are a few projects ahead of it before sharing my vision with the family. And since it’s Friday, I’m fairly certain I could use that huge soaker tube and a bottle of Green Fin! Thanks for sharing! Have a great weekend!

I just had to comment because I posted an equestrian cottage today so I smiled when I saw this post.

No doubt you will help Allison style a beautiful space inspired by equestrian elements and Windsor is a classy designer to look towards for inspiration.

Have a wonderful weekend with your family.

Alright, you are honestly living my dream life. I was fortunate to have studied dressage when I was a gril through college. Then real life, work and eventually a family took front stage. I shouldn’t complain too much though. I have a loving husband and two beautiful children who put up with my design addiction….but be certain that if I owned a horse again, my family would be begging for my attention.
Anyway, your project sounds like fun! Good luck!
