As a girl who has a little bit o’ Irish in her, I certainly appreciate the merriment of St. Patrick’s Day. My father’s mother was of Irish decent; her maiden name Sinclair. Always loved her name.
Growing up, I didn’t get to be with my grandmother nearly as much as I would have liked, but the times I did see her I distinctly remember her being extraordinarily creative – she was always sewing and crocheting beautiful things. She was first and foremost a proud wife and mother of three; and had a remarkable air of independence about her.
She had beautiful blue eyes that always sparkled when she smiled…
In honor of my grandmother and St. Patty’s Day, here are a few green goodies that bring me a smile. I’d like to think she would have approved of these as well…
A table filled with wild greens. Loveliness.
A Celerie Kemble floral that makes my heart skip a beat.
And yet another Celery – this irresistible Celery Cloche crocheted hat is perfect for a chilly spring morning. They also have beautiful big girl scarves, hats and chic neck warmers right here.
This kid friendly green smoothie looks tempting. Recipe over here. And for you extra healthy types, here’s a sweet apple kale smoothie recipe that received great reviews right here.
For something sweet and fizzy, I always enjoy a green izze. Love the color combo on the packaging.
Someday I hope to travel with our family to Ireland – I’m told it’s one of the most amazing places in the world to ride.
Try not to get pinched today.
I’d love to hear about your Irish roots or even something green that you love!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Dublin, Ireland!! Love your blog!
I have a really cool vintage green metal stool that I love. Seeing those images made me want to add a touch more of green to our home. Lovely picture of your grandmother.
I adore your blog and love that gorgeous photo of your grandmother. For fun I thought I’d try to Photoshop the creases and wear. Hopefully that’s ok. Here’s a link to the retouched version… she’s very beautiful. :)

Sinclair is a family name on my father’s side. We named our daughter Erin Sinclair – she goes by Clair. Happy St Paddy’s Day!
Hi Seleta,
Whoa – your grandmother is beautiful! What a sweet post for St. Patrick’s Day. Something green that I love…my kitchen is painted green which makes me think of veggies and inspires me to cook.
Have a happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I’m enjoying the new garden green dinnerware by Juliska today on my blog: http://www.timelesspaper.com/blog/?p=2782
Love your green items and the little background on your grandmother! Happy St. Patty’s day!
You look so much like your grandmother. Perhaps that is where the blue eyes come from. I have been to Ireland and it is amazing ( and very green)!! :)
Seleta, I would love to go to Ireland. I hear it is absolutely breathtaking. Such a perfect place for you to ride!
By the way, you came to mind when I did my post today. I could really see one of the paintings in your lovely beach home! Take a look if you have time. I think you’ll agree :) xo
Your grandmother was lovely. No Irish roots for me, but green is one of my favorite colors right now. I recently bought an antique Asian console table in a beautiful rustic green at Scott’s Antique Market here in Atlanta. I love it!
Hi! Your grandmother is beautiful, you look so much like her!
I don’t have any Irish roots that I’m aware of but I love the color GREEN, it is all over my house.
Hi Seleta, We are the type of family that on St. Patty’s Day the minute we wake up we all have to be wearing some kind of green. Well… husband put on something blue before the children could pinch him. Poor thing…he’s colored blind! Boy, did he get it good this morning.
Well I’m not Irish, but I LOVE the color green. It’s just fresh and I love all things fresh. Your grandmother was absolutely gorgeous… Have a great weekend!
Seleta, your grandmother was a such a beauty! My husband and I went to Ireland on our honeymoon – if you ever get the chance, go. The last photo in your series reminded me of a visit to one of the castles in County Galway. I was looking across a fenced-in meadow and suddenly a white horse appeared. He came up to me and let me pet his nose. We have photos of it – talk about a magical moment!
Your grandmother was so beautiful! She looks like a movie star.
Such a pretty lady…love all the gorgeous greens!!
She is stunning and it looks to me like you got some of her looks.
Love your horse photo. If you love equines, check out my brand new blog, http://www.horsecountrychic.blogspot.com. I am a big fan!
