planes, trains + automobiles

We’ve been in Atlanta for two weeks playing with the kids and visiting friends and family.  Our older two flew back in from a ten day stint in Denver with family last week.  Late Tuesday night I plopped our suitcases on the bedroom floor then packed another bag to catch a 5:00 AM flight to Boston today.  The adventure continues!

As I quickly changed from one suitcase to another, I thought it would be fun to show you the main items I always keep in my tote when traveling.  Pay attention to the green tea description, there’s a helpful beauty tip that my make-up artist friend Nikole taught me years ago!

A / B / C / D / E / F

A – L’eau D’Issey is my signature fragrance and I like to stock up on purse size spray so it’s travel friendly.  Right now I’m loving Issey’s Florale.

B – This may sound cliche, but it’s hard to go anywhere without my iphone.  I’m a huge texter plus Peter and I are addicted to the scrabble app and play whenever we can.  I don’t have a monogrammed case, but love the preppy vibe of this one!  More options here and here.

C –  I always have a few pouches of organic green tea in my bag.  Love the comfort of  hot tea and sometimes it’s easier to hydrate that way instead of drinking boring bottle of water. Not to mention it feels healthy knowing you’re sipping antioxidants.  BONUS:  if you’re a little sleep deprived and have dark or puffy under eye circles, take two tea bags and soak them in ice water.  After they are fully soaked and chilled, rest each one over your closed eyes for 10 minutes.  Voila, circles are gone!  This trick has saved me countless times.

D – In case there’s a chill in the car [my husband insists on sub zero AC levels when we drive] or plane, I always prefer a loosely tied scarf to warm up.  It adds a chic touch to even the most simple of outfits.  Just picked up this extra soft cotton one for our Boston trip.  Love it!

E – If you’re flying out the door and don’t have time for make-up, my rule is at least apply lipstick.  Nothing refreshes a face more than a natural rosy or red tone on the lips.  I’m all about my inexpensive Revlon lip liner in Sienna.  It helps set and keep lip color and these days all I use over it is Burt’s Bees lip shimmer.  I blogged all about my lipstick routine here and here.

F – These days I don’t have time for manis so I like to dab on a little cuticle cream after washing my hands.  Love the fragrance – especially the mango and lavender.  Besides, when I look in my purse and see their little tin scribbled with all of that pretty font work, it makes me feel happy.

Do you like the Scrabble app?? My hubbie plays online. There seems to be 2 free and one for a small fee…which do you prefer??

I’m hooked on Revlon’s lip liner in Sienna! Great color. I think I need to invesst in a case of organic green tea. I’ve been sporting some not too attractive dark circles and puffiness under my eyes. I’ll try anything! I’ve had a bit of insomnia going on lately. Have a wonderful time in Boston, Seleta! Fun city.

  7. I love lipstick! Always have since I was 15! I fully believe that a splash of color on your lips can take a bare face to a glam face. Still looking for that perfect color, but love experimenting in between tubes!

Seleta! I always love your posts! I’m a North Carolinian traveling to Atlanta for the first time this week for a family trip! I’d love to know what your MUST see’s & suggestions are for the area. I mapped out a couple of things on my blog. I’ll be trying the green tea trick, as we’re waking up at the crack of dawn to drive down. Safe travels to you!
