styling, sweetness + sickies

You may have noticed that it’s been way too long since our last style session with Tracery.  Paige and I have both been so busy with travel and work that carving out time for a style session wasn’t quite in the cards.  We finally found the time to meet up the other day and decided that nibbling over breakfast at my place was the best way to brainstorm for our next style session.  You can peek at our previous style sessions herehere and here.

We met at the kitchen island.

Nothing gets the creative juices flowing quite like fresh berries and cream, red zinger tea and spinach quiche.  Mmmm Mmm.

Our tea cups make me happy.

That morning I snipped some wild magnolia and plopped a few petite pumpkins onto a cake stand.  Not terribly fancy, but very easy and festive.

Love simple moments like these.  And it must have worked because Paige and I came up with two fun style session ideas for you!

This was a nice girl-time break, as I’ve been busy at home with our oldest three who have each been sick for the last week.  Two had a sore throat and cough and one had an unrelenting stomach flu.  Fevers finally left and they all bounced back to school.  I thought we were out of the woods when our youngest popped up a few hours later with a high fever, cough, sore throat AND an upset tummy.  Poor little guy got it all.  Not fair.

I bundled him in two blankets.  And beefed up the snuggle factor.

My flower and fruit cup tray had to quickly transition to the “nurse tray” for our wee patient.

We dubbed ourselves the house of sickies.

Later that day I noticed the sweetest little tray pop up next to the “sick tray.”  Styled with comforting snacks to soothe a tummy and garnished with a precious note.  Made by one sweet big sister.  Any mother would agree that seeing such an act of kindness between one’s children is enough to keep you smiling for weeks.  It almost makes up for all of the sibling spats.

This was a day that reminded me the littlest things in life make the biggest difference.

I know I comment a lot, but I just cannot tell you how uplifting your blog is. It’s not too much so that I spend too much time reading it, but every picture and your comments are just so light and fun and sweet and inspiring. I love it! Thank you!
