sparkly + new

You may have noticed a new look to the blog.  If you’re in google reader or have an email subscription, you can click on the site to check out the new header.  I’m a little late making the announcement because two of my children suddenly came down with Pneumonia the day the new look went up.  It was kind of scary!  I had to tend to my little patients first and foremost and put all else on the back burner.  Thankfully they are now both fully recovered.  Whew.

WHY THE BLOG CHANGE?

I was really starting to miss my stripey header originally designed by Erika four years ago…wow has it really been that long?!?  Ultimately, I decided that having stripes in my life makes me happy.  So late this summer I set out on a mission to go back to that aesthetic.

HOW IT  BEGAN…

I reached out to Megan of toast & laurel to see if she was up to the task.  She started right away and sent me a series of beautiful designs.  The nice thing was she totally “got” my need for stripes and ran with it.  Honestly, it was very hard to choose among her designs because everything she created was so pretty, simple and elegant.  Here is Megan’s first color board – she surprised me by playing off a picture of our home she found on my blog.  She’s crafty like that ; )

Screen shot 2011-11-06 at 4.00.35 PM

Here’s one of her first snappy header designs (we didn’t have a tagline yet).  So crisp and clean.  Love how edited this particular look is.

Screen shot 2011-11-06 at 4.40.45 PM
And here is another.  She put the stripes on the background wallpaper and kept the header  in a neat little box.

Screen shot 2011-11-06 at 4.40.26 PM

In hindsight, I probably should have just posted three of the toast & laurel designs on the blog and had all of you vote because I was too close to the forest to see the trees.  I started dissecting everything way too much!  But Megan was extra patient and hung in there with me.  She’s a pro.  And I LOVE the final design she came up with!  Now that she has beautifully set up the colors and blog aesthetic, we can easily change things up from time to time.  Because I’m crazy like that.

A NEW LINE…

Next I was in need of a new tagline.  I tried to come up with one, but failed.  I didn’t quite know how to define my blog in a simple sentence  - probably because I see the not-so-pretty side of my blogging life (ie: those moments pecking away at a computer with no make-up and blood shot eyes, kids running around in the background, dirty dishes in the sink and baskets of laundry piling up a mere three feet away)  Nice image, huh?

So….I had to solicit help…

Enter one of my blog besties, Patricia of PvE.  Aside from being a masterful artist, she oozes wit and whimsey.  She sweetly shared her thoughts and compared my blog to a glass of bubbly champagne.  This delighted me because champagne is one of my favorite guilty pleasures.  After a long list of clever tag lines, Patricia and I both landed on “the sparkly side of life.”  We LOVED it.  Somehow she managed to find the creative energy to do this during her massive kitchen renovation!  Meanwhile I was not in my best frame of mind with four lively kids zooming around the house during summer break.  Patricia and I were quite a pair.  At one point, we were both so frazzled that we got slap happy in our emails back and forth and started coming up with crazy taglines.  Our taglines started out innocent such as “done up sunny” and slowly morphed into “the b*tchy side of life.”

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER…

Last, but certainly not least, we have my faithful blog butler, Chris.  He was a champ and whipped out the changes with a smile…I swear I blinked and next thing I knew I get this email from him saying “it’s ready to go.”  It amazes me how smart and fast he is with everything.  Chris is awesome and a very patient soul!!  Although a  few times I bet he was ready to duck tape me to a rocket ship and launch me to the moon.

LET’S CELEBRATE WITH A GIVEAWAY…

In honor of the sparkly new look, I went shopping and picked up some happies to share with THREE lucky winners.  I had a recent 24 hour trip to Atlanta and first hit Anthro to see if they had anything fun.  Here’s what I found…

GIVEAWAY #1

Couldn’t help but fall in love with this sassy little dish that was quietly perched in a sea of white.  It’s not an average sized bowl, actually much smaller, which I think makes it darling.  Don’t you love that bold color?  It’s acid green in person with a lovely gold rim along the top.  This could be presh as a jewelry holder on a dresser or vanity.

GIVEAWAY #2

More jewelry dishes…haven’t you been dying for a bunny and hot dog ring holder?  Of course you were.  These two were in different spots in the store, but I put them together and loved the quirky vibe. Perfect for storing your small shimmering treasures.

GIVEAWAY #3

This I snagged from JCrack weeks ago, as it was a perfect companion with the new blog look.  Everyone needs a scarf with sparkle, especially with the holidays approaching.  Hurry up and win before I keep this one, ha ha.

Hey Seleta! Love the new look of the blog! I always love change, it’s so refreshing! I love the sparkly scarf! I add sparkle to our holiday, by always trying to find something beautiful from nature and bringing it into our home. Always adds a sense of “life” to my holiday decor! Give those kiddos a hug for me! (sure miss them)

Oh my! I heart that bowl!!!! I might have to head to Anthro this week to check out the rest of their goodies! I just love your blog! Sparkle……hum, funny because I happen to be making myself a book page wreath at this very moment and I am adding a bit of sparkle to the holiday center on it! xoxo

the scarf!! I loooove all things sparkly…I’m hosting Thanksgiving this year and am forgoing the traditional “fall” colors….for lots of white, glass, silver, and peacock blue!

I loved the previous look, but how fun to have a change … and this looks just fantastic! And I adore the new tagline. Isn’t blogging about (mostly) celebrating the sparkly side of life? Love it!! Hope your sweet little ones are on the mend …

Oh – I just noticed the bubbles at the bottom of your blog! The new design is lovely. :)

I’d like to win giveaway #1. I’d keep the bowl on my nightstand and stash rings and my glasses in it. I love to decorate with fresh greens (especially boxwood) at Christmas time – I usually throw in something adorned with glitter for a bit of sparkle – like ornaments or little birds woven into the greens.

    Brenna November 7, 2011

Love the new design! So chic and crisp…perfect for you. I love the scarf, too. Adding sparkle is my favorite part of the season. Family, food and laughter are the guaranteed ways to bring sparkle to any holiday. (But I wouldn’t dismiss shiny diamonds that find their way under our tree, husband.)

I always try to create some new holiday decor each year to keep it happy — this year, I’m cross-stiching a picture of Bill Murray’s face above the words “Murray Christmas.” Totally not joking.

    Morgan November 7, 2011

Absolutely lovely….from the changes you did make and even the ones that you didn’t choose are perfect!

I’m planning to decorate our Christmas tree in all gold and silver this year (I usually go traditional with red) and have already ordered ivory stockings and a tree skirt to go with the change. I have a pretty children centered holiday planned, but for the adults I think it would be fun this year to sparkle it up with champagne served in flutes that have colored (maybe gold) sugar rims. Something easy that also looks really pretty.

All of the giveaways are great, but I especially love #3. Love when you post about fashion items as you have great style.

I love love the new header. It “looks” just like you!

This is my first married Christmas so I’m hoping to start new “sparkly” traditions as a little family.

I would be honored to have any of the giveaways, but i do love that fun scarf!

    Traci November 7, 2011

I love your fresh new blog look!

Sign me up for #1…green is my black and it would look FAB on my terrific table from Ballard to offset the burlap cloth. Thank you for the opportunity!

    Kelly November 7, 2011

It’s my first Christmas being married and so I can’t wait to sparkle up our new home… In particular, I’ve been looking for some sparkly stockings!!!

I love those adorable ring holders… I almost lost my ring in the sink the other day so I think it’s about time I got one!

    Preethi November 7, 2011

Your new header is so clean and so classy. I love the little green bowl or the sparkly scarf. My little girls and I love glitter and we use alot of it in our homemade decorations for the holidays. Sparkle, love, making and sharing–that’s what the holidays are about in our home!

  13. 13
    Ruth November 7, 2011

I like the new header – very clean and crisp!
This year I am adding sparkle to the season by creating paper beads with touches of glitter & attaching crystals to the ends – I love the shimmer as I hang them around lamps & from window shades……..
    I adore scarfs……………

    Kelly H. November 7, 2011

Seleta, I am loving the new look of your blog! Stripes always make me happy!

Such lovely giveaway items! I am partial to that scarf!

This year, the sparkle around my home will be a little different. Our house is on the market and since I just *knew* it would sell before the holidays, I put all of my holiday decor in storage! Clearly, I am regretting the assumption that this would be easier than it has been. :/

Hoping that this year, the sparkle in our home will come from music, food, hot cider, and a big sparkly ‘SOLD’ sign in the yard. Any day now, right?… :)

I love your new blog look. So fresh and colorful. I would pick #1, the little green dish. This green is my accent color through the house and I would love to add this dish to my office. I would put this dish on my desk and keep business cards in it.

Love the new look! I absolutely adore the sparkly scarf…goes along perfect with the new design:)

    Laura November 7, 2011

    Love the new look!

I’d probably pick number one, though I want them all! For a little sparkle, I’m all about the twinkle lights. I put them everywhere and it’s just about the only light we use for the month of December.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  23. 23
    Andrea C November 7, 2011

Love the new look! I love adding mercury glass accents to my home during the holiday season. I LOVE touches of sparkle in every room..

  24. 24
    Andrea C November 7, 2011

Sorry hit the send button too soon…I would use the scarf as a tree skirt first and then as a scarf.

  25. 25
    Shauna November 7, 2011

First of all…the phrase “sparkle on” just made my day. And admittedly; I’m going to steal it and use it :)

Second…the dog and bunny dishes are adorable and I really really would like them!

Third…I think every Christmas decoration I own is sparkly. As I tell my husband-Sparkle is my favourite colour!! We just moved to a new house and I have to squish my 9′ tree into a less than 9′ room…so no room for a topper! So all my tree toppers will turn into my dining room table centre piece. :)

Have a happy, sparkly day! (Sparkle on!!!)

    Lindsey A. November 7, 2011

So fun! And I love the new blog design. Especially the random dots below;)

I would love, love, love the Jcrack (using a Seleta term here) scarf! And as for the adding sparkle to my life this holiday, hmmmmm….I’d have to say I’m trying to dress up more. More rhinestone Kate Spade cardigans, glitter shoes, etc. I might even break out some bright red lipstick.

  27. 27
    Jen Lozano November 7, 2011

I <3 that JCrack scarf… I would use it as inspiration for my Christmas theme this year ~ white and SPARKLE!

  28. 28
    Lauren November 7, 2011

I am LOVING the new look! And I would also love to own that sparkly JCrew scarf. As for adding sparkle to the holidays, I think I’ll try to put on a sparkly smile as much as possible (in an attempt to avoid the stress and grimaces that we are all prone to during that busy time).

  29. 29
    Lara November 7, 2011

I’d love the scarf – I saw it a Jcrew and considered buying it, now wishing I had. This holiday season I’d add sparkle with champagne – my favorite drink during the holidays!

  30. 30
    Abby November 7, 2011

I love, love, love the JCrew scarf!

My plan for adding sparkle to the holidays is to SLOW DOWN and enjoy it. To actually stop and see the sparkle in my kids’ eyes. This year has been rough. Just last month my parents filed for divorce, my 17 month old knocked his front tooth out a day after getting tubes placed in his ears, my daughter saw several specialists after being diagnosed with MRSA in her ear…oh and she also has to have 2 root canals while under sedation. You can’t make this stuff up! To say medical bills are sky-rocketing would be an understatement. So every year, I tend to over-do. To spend so much time worrying about if I’m getting the perfect gift and the perfect quantity of gifts. Not this year—I can’t. As cliche as it sounds, I’m going to focus on what really matters. And while I’m not excited about the medical bills, maybe they are a blessing in disguise. I feel less stress already!

  31. 31
    jan November 7, 2011

I would love to win the scarf. I’m almost 6 months pregnant so any way I can dress up and personalize these maternity clothes helps me feel better! Love the new look!!

  32. 32
    Christina November 7, 2011

The new tagline is perfect for your blog! Congrats!

I’d love #1…or the scarf. =) I’m indecisive. My extra holiday sparkle will come from just trying to remain present and not let it get too overwhelming. A girl can dream…

  33. 33
    Mary November 7, 2011

The bunny and puppy dishes are perfect to put rings and earrings at the end of the day. Super cute.

    Meredith K. November 7, 2011

Hi Seleta, LOVE the new blog! What a lovely and fresh change! I love the tagline too, because who doesn’t love all things sparkly?! I plan on adding sparkle to my holiday through lots of fun, sparkly accessories, much like that beautiful scarf! Although I’d love to win it, I’d really, really love to win that gorgeous green bowl!

  35. 35
    Emily November 7, 2011

I am just loving the new design!! I love the shade of blue and the tagline! I would love to win either the green and white bowl or the sparkly scarf!! Through Pinterest this year, I am hoping I can spice up my holiday decor! I found a jingle bell wreath tied with a satin ribbon on Martha Stewart’s website that I bought supplies for today and went browsing through HomeGoods today for some silver and gold sparkle for my dining room table for Christmas! I cannot wait!

    Christa L. November 7, 2011

Hello there! I am a dedicated stalker of you blog, but am so smitten with that scarf, I had to comment;)
I love your new tagline, it is so fitting! I plan on adding a little “sparkle” to the holidays by having my girls (4, 2) spinkle silver and gold glitter across our lawn for Reindeer food. Flying reindeer need a magical snack.
    Enjoy the holidays!

    MiMi November 7, 2011

    Donna November 7, 2011

I would love to win giveaway #3!!! We don’t have a JCrew in Canada but I have always been tempted to order something online. This could be the start of an addiction! The scarf would be perfect to add some sparkle to many holiday outfits!

  39. 39
    Katie November 7, 2011

I love the look! I have to admit my house incorps all of your blog colors so that #1 bowl would be a great little addition to my entry desk. As for how I am going to add sparkle to my holiday, I am going to by focusing on that inner sparkle that you get when you experience the holidays as a happy and healthy family, on the means behind the holidays, embracing the traditions and that truly make this the most wonderful seasons of all!

  40. 40
    Laura C November 7, 2011

All so lovely but the scarf is a sure winner.

I’m getting that Christmas festive flurry and loving all things that twinkle.

  41. 41
    Kari November 7, 2011

I love the scarf! I try to add sparkle to the holidays by trying something crafty. It always ends in disaster and I wind up buying a premade version. So, any sparkle in my home was bought and paid for rather than made by hand! I also have an addiction to christmas lights, so, there is no lack of sparkle here!

  42. 42
    Jennifer November 7, 2011

I would love any of your prizes but the sparkle scarf is my favorite! I love your new blog design!
To add sparkle during the holiday’s I use candle’s and that fake snow stuff I put all over the place!

  43. 43
    Ashley November 7, 2011

I would love option #1 – the cute green catch-all bowl. That is my fave shade of green! I love using pieces like that as bright pops of color in my rooms. I get my holiday sparkle fix from our Christmas tree adorned with all gold & silver ornaments. I love looking at it night all lit up. So does our furbaby, Archie (a little too much – as it somehow fell over last year & had to be relocated to a dog-free room!) Hopefully he can restrain himself this year!

  44. 44
    kate November 7, 2011

I love the new look! As for the giveaway, the scarf is my favorite! I am adding sparkle to my Thanksgiving table by dipping my mini pumpkins in glitter and using them as placecards at the table!

Hi Seleta! I’d like to add some sparkle to my holidays with that JCREW scarf!!!

  46. 46

I love the acid green Ikat dish! I plan to add sparkle to my holiday by using the gold chargers I received as a wedding present this past May.

  47. 47
    Jennifer O November 7, 2011

The beautiful soft pink scarf with sparkle would be the perfect addition to my holiday wardrobe.

I love to add sparkle with christmas lights, candles on every square surface (especially in mercury votives), and glitter on most/ALL of my Christmas decorations. I would love to be the simple, classic chick who adds touches of white and gold throughout my home, but there is glitter running in my veins. I started out with the traditional red and green but by last year I added lime green , hot pink and turquoise to my Christmas color palette. By Valentines, I will still be sweeping up glitter leftover from the holidays. And I wouldn’t have it any other way! :)

    Happy Holidays!!

    The stripes looks amazing.

  48. 48
    MiMi November 7, 2011

Forgot to mention how I will add sparkly to my holiday…well I love vintage or antique mirrors (I have about 7 of different sizes in our main living area) and I love to catch a glimpse of a candle or flowers in the mirrors…I also have some old glitter reindeer that I found on EBay a few years ago that I use on my tree or mantle. This year I am looking for old glitter Merry Christmas signs or handmade ETSY sayings to hang on the corner of the mirrors, I am wanting every mirror and my big kitchen chalkboard to have a different Christmas phrase this year.

  49. 49
    Christina November 7, 2011

All three gifts are perfectly sparkly, but the one which would be most appreciated by me AND my husband would be the ring holders. He is a veterinarian after all, a great one – but I often joke that I feel like I’m snuggling in with one of his clients when he gets home from work. Furthermore, the fact that one of his many strengths is organization which is also one of my many weaknesses makes for some frustration on his part. We moved last may but my jewelry is still in knots on my dresser. I’ve painted a sweet antique door header that needs about 20 hooks for the necklaces to hang on, but the rings have no home.

As for the holidays, our sparkle will come from our first ever fireplace! I love me some ambiance/atmosphere and have yearned for this for years. I made all of our stockings (seven awesome children through birth and adoption) and then lay them over the back of the couch only to stack them along the wall half way through the day. Seriously, I can hardly wait to see them hanging on the mantle with a beautiful fire crackling while my crew plays games and reads in the evenings.

I’m loving your return to your previous look! I love blue (particularly turquoise) and this looks so fresh (just what I need early in the morning).

Glad to hear your kids are ok. Two at the same time too, sounds exhausting. I know I feel it when my two littlies just have colds.

Love your taste in gifts. I just ordered the same two ring holders for Christmas gifts for friends, even paying the freight to Australia because they’re just so cute.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

    Christina D. November 7, 2011

Love the new blog look Seleta! It’s nice to keep things fresh. I love all of the items, jeez, do I have to pick one…..ok, the scarf, because I am a bit of an addict and that one is too sweet :) I want to add more sparkle to our holidays by hosting more dinner parties, i.e. Frank Sinatra, sparkly attire, bubbly drinks and a delish home cooked meal eaten by candle light, lots and lots of candle light !

  52. 52
    Mary T November 7, 2011

hmmm, Sparkle at Christmas is always brought on by all the candles I seem to light up daily. I don’t know what it is about Christmas that makes me want to do it. It probably has something to do with the thought that long ago, Mary and Joseph had to travel by candlelight to Bethlehem. Either that or me pretending to blow out all of Jesus’ birthday candles. Ha!

To win this give-a-way would be a dream come true. I adore the little green dish in #1. It’s so energetic and fresh.

  53. 53
    Janice Lee November 7, 2011

WOW! Lovely new design ..Seems so YOU. Well the kids and I just finished making some candle gifts. Dip candles in almost boiling water then roll in glitter.. we did silver, dark green and wine red. We used left over half used candles and glittered it all- including the wicks! We may scrape off some glitter and form a letter or other design on each. We also dipped one never used candle in dried rose petals I may keep that one!
I would love to win the scarf as I have just the outfit for it!

  54. 54
    bevy November 7, 2011

    Cassie Tolbert November 7, 2011

I absolutely love the scarf. the perfect amount of bling. I am normally a very simple and neutral person but when it comes to the holidays, I love to add sparkle to my home. I love anything with white or clear glitter that shimmers like snow. I keep a neutral color palette and add wonderful and unexpected sparkle. Makes me want to get out my Christmas decorations right now!!

    Seleta,
Your personality is sparkly and bubbly even on a blog:)
When my son was a baby , we use to say the word sparkle and he would giggle over and over again. We are going to add sparkle to our holidays by smiling , being grateful and doing good deeds. I would love to win # 1 , thank you!

My motto is, “If it does not move it can be sprayed AND GLITTERED!!”

I will be spraying and adding “Sparkle” to Allium, which looks wonderful in arrangements or stems removed stacked in silver bowls or glass vessels!
More important, of course, is the “Sparkle” in my children’s eyes!

I adore #3 – - it would be a wonderful pop of sparkle to my winter wardrobe!

I am new to your blog and I think it is fabulous!

  61. 61
    Stacy November 7, 2011

Seleta, I found your blog from a magazine when I was visisting Seaside! I’ve read it ever since. It takes me back to that wonderful place! For the holidays I Love to decorate every room in my house and bake a lot! I really love to make Christmas stuff, but my favorite is Martha Stewart glitter! I glittered seashells a couple years ago and made ornaments. I also love Champagne and all things sparkly! So if had to choose one of the giveaways it would be the “Jcrack” scarf!!

  62. 62
    Emily Carr November 7, 2011

To add some sparkle into my life this holiday season, I have a plan. I live in a little townhouse and while I don’t have the room to put up a big tree and decorate it to the nines (this year), I’m going to have a pretty, real (bring on the pine smell) table top tree perched on a table that belonged to my grandparent’s. I see this little sparkly tree sitting in a silver champagne bucket. And, it just so happens that this table is positioned conveniently by my front window so I can share the dimly lit twinkle lights and holiday sparkle with my neighborhood.

I’d love to win Giveaway#1, the bowl. My sister would go crazy for it, and I’d love to gift it to her this Christmas. (She and I are big fans of Pom Pom – reminds us of our old cat, Toby) I add sparkle to the holidays by always using my grandmother’s china and Waterford wine glasses at family gatherings. It keeps her in our thoughts even though she can no longer travel to be with us.

    Seleta,
I love the new blog look and tagline. So fresh and fun. I love the JCrew sparkly scarf. I bought the chartreuse green ikat bowl from Anthro and I use it for my daily jewelry on my dresser.

I would love to wrap myself up in that soft, sparkly scarf! This year I am pulling out the family silver goblets, platters & pitcher, polishing it up and displaying it all. I’m also spray painting dogwood branches white and hanging robins egg blue tags off of them. Add a dash of that awesome fake snow and my mantle will be sparkly and bright.

I love Giveaway #3. I need a cute little dish for my rings! To add sparkle this year, I’m going a completely different style with my Christmas tree. So, excited I can’t wait! Love the look of the new blog. Especially the bubbles at the bottom of the page!

All your giveaways are fun and classy, just like your blog. I think my favorite is the acid green and white bowl . I had a darling green bowl that crashed to its death on our spanish tile earlier this evening. =(

We were married December 17, 2010 , and I’m hoping to add sparkle to my holidays by decorating our apartment with the Christmas decorations we used in our wedding reception (black, red and silver sparkly balls and things!).

Love your blog, I’ve been reading for several years.

What a great giveaway! The new blog is fabulous. I really love the JCrew scarf. It’s lovely and would make a great winter coat update. I like to pick up individual treasures for each family members and wrap them in natural wrapping with just a touch of glitter somewhere on the package – lining the top of an acorn, on the edge of a ribbon or written in calligraphy across the top. Just a little sparkle to an already beautiful gift: Christmas.

I’d love to win the scarf – I can’t resist glimmering winter whites.

I’m going to add sparkle to my holiday season by sparkling on the inside- just bubbling over with cheerfulness and love.
Whenever I’m feeling tired or overwhelmed, I’m going to focus on the most important thing – enjoying my friends and family. The little details won’t matter, but the wonderful memories we create by being warm, happy and sparkling to our loved ones is what we’ll treasure.

I love the scarf! I wear scarves often to cover up a big scar on my neck left from cancer surgery (thankful I’m no longer wearing them on my head). I love sparkle during the holidays . . . or any time of year, I wore glitter during the bar exam! Anyway to add sparkle to the season, I put out all my bernsicle santas. Love glitter esp. mixed with raw wood.

  84. 84
    Sara November 7, 2011

I would love the scarf. So cute and just the right touch of sparkle!

To add more sparkle to the holidays this year, I am hoping to add more twinkle lights. I love to have all the lights off in the house, except for the twinkle lights. Can’t wait!

I think the site looks wonderful! Such fun doing a bit of a redesign. I just made a new header for my site and so enjoyed myself working on it.

I adore the scarf so I’ll keep my fingers crossed for that, please!

As for adding some holiday sparkle, I am partial to glitter clothespins like these that my three year old just made for us: http://www.thecreativesalad.com/2011/11/07/red-glitter-clothespins-tutorial/

LOVE your new look!!! I am in the process of working on a new design for a site and it is a tough process. I think yours turned out splendid. I love all 3 of the lovely items!!! As for how we are adding sparkle to our holidays….we are keeping it so simple this year. We usually have a holiday party for about 120 people and it stresses me out every year. My b-day is next week and then Thanksgiving and then our anniversary and then our son’s b-day and then Christmas. Planning our big party in the midst of all that takes away some of the joy. So this year, we are doing a very very simple tree and no big party and we are focusing on the “sparkle” in our children’s eyes and the birth of Jesus!

  88. 88
    Lesley November 7, 2011

I’m head over heels for your new blog design…stripes are my fave!

We are adding “sparkle” to this holiday season because it’ll be our first Christmas as a married couple! We tied the knot in August…life is sweet and perfectly sparkley with my husband by my side! :)

    christine November 7, 2011

love the new look….especially the little dots at the end. BRAVO to you and your team. and glad your sweets on the mend too.

to answer your query. . . i’d love to add a little sparkle to my life. i work from home with two kiddos underfoot, dishes in the sink and dryers buzzing during conference calls. . .so that sweet sparkle scarf would add a little more magic to my day.

many thanks for the chance to win!

btw, thanks for painting that nice image above, actually made me feel good about my reality.

    Alexandra S. November 7, 2011

I’d like to win the sparkly scarf! SO adorable and I love the color. I really like to add sparkle to the holidays with a new piece for my wardrobe…usually something a bit fancier than I get to wear on a day to day basis. Nothing makes celebrating easier than a new fun frock!!

  91. 91
    Kim November 7, 2011

Ooooh that scarf pretty please!!! Every year I the pack up the car with boyfriend/dog/presents/food and wine and wait…wait…wait…travel…wait across the ferry in crazy Christmas traffic to my parents house. I’m the oldest, so that involves a lot of helping/cooking/organizing/etc. Fun but never relaxing.
My sister and mother are nurses…and will be working this year – so we’re doing family Christmas early. This means we get to spend our first Christmas alone! We’ve been together 7 years now..I’m so excited to wake up to our own Christmas tree!
The romance…there’s supposed to be lot’s of snow this year, so I’m hoping to go snow shoeing, a little whiskey drinking by the fire, and opening presents – just the two of us (and our big pooch too, of course!) Maybe getting dolled up and having a romantic Christmas dinner out at a swanky old hotel…
Sure could use a pretty scarf like that ;)

  92. 92
    Taylor H. November 7, 2011

O gosh! So hard to choose….. but I really do love the scarf! I like to add sparkle to my holidays by treating myself to a nice cup of Starbucks! Driving through their drive through listening to Christmas music makes me LOVE this time of year…. and boy o boy do I love the day those Starbucks red holiday cups come out!

  93. 93
    Abbie November 8, 2011

Love the new look! I hope the kiddos are feeling better.

As much as I love the scarf… I have to go with the bowl. It is just so me. It would add a little punch of color to me bathroom as my jewelry holder.

Let’s see… how would I add sparkle to the holidays? I am really into metallic tree decor lately. Every year I do a monochromatic theme, and I’m thinking golds, silvers and whites would be beautiful for 2011!

Your new look is so fresh! I love all of your finds for the giveaway but the bowl speaks to me… for my dressing table; which was my Nana’s writing desk!
We keep the sparkle in the Holidays by *trying* to make sure that all 3 of our boys are rested and healthy and that my husband and I are too! It makes all the difference… Start early with prep and always keep candles or strings of lights by the roaring fire for ambiance.

How funny that you are asking how I am adding SPARKLE to the holidays, this is my blogpost today http://jacolynmurphy.blogspot.com/2011/11/table-turkeysthanksgiving-place-cards.html.

I would love any of the giveaways, but my favorite is the scarf! I love the color and how subtle and fun the sparkles on it are!!

We are going to SPREAD the sparkle this year;) I want more than anything to show my kids what Christmas is really about. My oldest is studying thee Advent with her youth group and the “true meaning of Christmas”, and I hope to find a way to show my children(myself & husband) what that is this year We will decorate simply, my daughter has requested a flocked tree(we are in Texas and rarely see snow!) which we will decorate with twinkle lights and our special ornaments…I plan on taking my girls to the nutcracker(tradition). We will bake, deliver treats to others, drive around and look at Christmas lights, and hopefully find lots of ways to share our holiday.

    Janette@The2Seasons November 8, 2011

I would love the scarf to add to my collection, please. I’m adding sparkle this holiday season by passing on the red and green for the first time and using white and silver ribbons, flowers, poinsettias, ornaments, and gift wrap. This will look great with the natural green of our live garlands and tree.

Hey there! LOVE the new look! It really seems to represent you well. I cracked up when reading the caption next to your pic, “You might want to add one more sentence so that this lines up with the photo bla bla.” LOL! Ah vell, such is the life of an active mother of children – or is that the life of a mother of active children? I think in your case, it may be both! Very relieved to hear they are feeling better.

I adore the jewelry holders. I have a dish next to my sink, but I still worry that some small piece of jewelry will roll off and down the sink before I can catch it. Those bunny ears would be perfect. :)

Thanks for a good giggle, Seleta!

I love your new tag line. It’s so you! (at least what I gather from this blog :) I love the scarf too and jcrack is right. It’s impossible to look without buying-am I right? I love the scarf! I’m so excited about the holidays this year. We’ve just moved into our new house. My Mom always beautifully transformed our house at Christmas and I hope to carry on the tradition. (my favorite thing to do at christmas at my parents’ house is to drink hot tea and watch the tree sparkle at night!) I am adding a little sparkle to our home by making frasier fur/ball ornament garlands to wrap our columns and front porch and I’m making wreaths to match for all of the windows. Can’t wait to see it all lit up at night! The kids and I are starting to pick out our choices for crafts (for the house) for us to make together this Christmas. Homemade just makes the holidays complete, don’t you think? Thanks again-LOVE your blog!

Would love to win the sparkly scarf! Honestly, I adore all things sparkle. I always say that “I need a little sparkle in my life” so I am always looking at ways to add a little fun and sparkle into my everyday….whether it be sparkly gold stilettos, glittery nail polish or my bejeweled iPhone case. For the holidays, I will probably add some sparkle to my holiday tablescape and maybe make some fun glitter cookies for a Holiday Cookie Exchange:)

I’m in love with that bowl! I adore when dishes are different sizes and shapes and patterns, but all go together – it adds so much personality!! I would use it as a little accent piece this season, fill it with small colored wool balls and place it on my mantel or side table… or maybe use faux berries, and spray them with glitter, and stick them in the bowl. I’m one for eclectic and homemade!
btw, your new look is as classy as I would’ve expected!

I LOVE the new look! I love stripes and I still drool over the striped fabric you featured a while back. I know I’m too late to enter the contest, but I really love the dog and bunny ring holders. I have a soft spot in my heart for white porcelain. We have vibrant painted walls, and I love how white porcelain stands out against the darker backdrop. I can definitely see those two cuties on our dresser.

I love the green bowl. To be honest, we really aren’t a family of gift givers. My son is 16 and my other son is away at college, but will be home for winter break. My husband gives gifts of service. For example, he will fix things around the house, but he’s not the type to buy gifts. That’s ok with me, because as my kids have gotten older and outgrown toys, I’ve learned that the greatest sparkle doesn’t come from jewels. It will come from the pride I will feel in having my family together, because this is my son’s first year of college, and he is out of state. When he comes home for winter break, I will feel complete… I’ll have my 3 boys together again.

I know I don’t know you, but I think you are so friggin cool. I am always so excited when you have a new post. I LOVE scarves and would love to win this one. (Maybe you’ve already decided the winner, I don’t know.)
And to add sparkle to my holiday: Christmas lights. I am a newly married, 7th grade English teacher and so Christmas lights are a good (relatively cheap) way to spice up my classroom and our new pad. I wrap rainbow colored strings around my whiteboard (the kids love it.) I wrap crisp white lights around the trip of our living room at home. so sparkly and so sweet. :)
