wednesday white: walking tour

In the spirit of holiday cheer, this week and next I’ll be hosting some FUN giveaways as I answer questions about a few items from our home in December’s Southern Living issue.  I’m getting a ton of emails inquiring about all kinds of things in our home, so it’s the perfect time to share resources and give away a gift each day.  Here’s a shot I took of our family room.

Let’s start with one popular email I’m getting about our sofa::

Dear Seleta,

I love the sofa pictured in your family’s home in Southern Living.  Where can I find it?

Our sofa is from Pizitz, a beautiful local home goods boutique right here in Seaside.  Our model is now retired, but there have newer models very similar right here.

Speaking of Pizitz, I thought it would be fun to take you on a walking tour inside their store.  It’s so pretty and etherial in their space, perfect for our Wednesday White post.  Last week I hopped on my bike and peddled over for a visit.  Prepare your eyes for a dose of creamy white goodness.

My blood pressure drops about 90 points every time I walk through their door.

Pizitz is one of those shops you just have to see when you visit our beach.  For those of you too far to visit, they also have a wonderful website where you can order goodies or see more pretty pictures inside their space right here.  One of their signature looks is slip-covered sofas, ottomans and chairs.  They’re easy on the eyes and surprisingly wear like iron .  We’ve had our slipcovered sofa for five years and it’s still kickin’.  They also carry luscious linens, rugs, one-of-a-kind lamps, amazing art, imported dishes, and incredible pillows, and many other goodies.

Their space is such a dreamy reprieve from the hustle and bustle of daily life.  When walking around, you almost feel like you’re inside a magical seashell.  The sandy white tones and natural textures envelop every square inch of their space.  And the art is a perfect compliment to the soft hues.

And there’s the occasional sparkle.  Mercury spheres inside a larger-than-life seashell?  Yes, please.

This fascinated me – a carrara marble wine holder.  You put it in the freezer overnight then place it on your table to keep your wine chilled for hours.  Sadly they only have one in the store…it needs to be wrapped and placed under someone’s tree!

How about some glass bubbles???  Baubles for your tabletop ; )

One of my favorite parts about walking through Pizitz is the fragrance in the air.  Hmmm, let’s see if I can describe it.  Imagine a crisp day walking along the surf with the tiniest hint of fresh-snipped confederate jasmine sprinkled in the breeze.

Their soaps are divine.

I’m addicted to this line.  The color alone is delightful.  The smell sweet and subtle.

Their color scheme happened to go well with my new kicks.  This big square ottoman in greige linen was amazing…

Here’s a better shot.  It’s comfy and has the perfect amount of squish.   Pretty sure two children could comfortably sleep on it for a slumber party, ha ha.  Love a massive upholstered ottoman.

Hope you enjoyed seeing Pizitz.  If you spotted something you liked, feel free to give them a jingle at (850) 231-2240.  Or contact them via email on their site.

Be right back with a giveaway from Pizitz.

Hint:  it smells like the beach.

I visited this store while in Seaside over the summer and fell in LOVE! I long for the days when I can have light colored furniture and not have to worry about kid spills. Your shoes are killer. Need me a pair of those! :)

I’ve been mulling over your blog looking for paint color ideas. What is this color on your living room walls? It’ really goes nicely with the grey in the couch and pillows. Just curious (if you have a second to respond).
