It’s been raining, hot and humid for about three weeks now, which is a recipe for hair disaster. It’s hard to feel pulled together when your hair is going 72 different directions. Not gonna lie, the fugly factor is off the charts when my hair is frizzed. Many of us don’t have the time (or $$$) to regularly pop into a salon for a chic do when we’re busy juggling life’s day-to-day activities. So what’s a girl to do? I invited the team at Salon Twist to give us one ultimate hair idea for this summertime weather. Owner and Stylist Gina and Stylist Megan to the rescue!
Gina is my go-to gal in Florida for amazing cuts…
Megan is my secret weapon – she gives a style and blow-out like no one’s business. She styled my hair before our Boston trip and I was actually frizz free for a whole week – a record breaker for my locks. She also styled my hair for our Southern Living shoot – which, believe it or not, was a dreary, super humid, rainy week in December.

Hi everyone. This year’s hottest hair trend is…THE PONYTAIL. Not your everyday frumpy pony, but one with style and edge that can easily complete any outfit – day or night.
Here are two simple and elegant ways to create your pony:
1. For around town and running errands, section off your hair, tease the crown, then loosely pull back the remaining hair – it’s great way to get that not so “tried” ponytail style. If your hair is one length, add a defined side part for a stylistic quality. If you have bangs, try swooping them to the side.
A pony done right can add a touch of glam to ANY look.
2. For another twist (pardon the pun) on an evening out or special occasion, tease all hair directing back, smooth over with a smoothing brush – our favorite is the Mason Pearson.
After teasing, smooth around edges gather hair at nape of neck leaving a small strand out to braid or wrap nicely around the pony holder. Use a bobby pin to secure the section wrapped around the pony holder. You can either flat iron pony for that sleek look or curl to give soft body & movement.
You can also back comb the crown and part in the middle, with soft, chunky waves cascading down.

Brunette and naughty to the extreme. When I was 3 I was nicknamed Rick James by my older brother (just to give you an idea I am a very white girl!) haha. In my tween years I went through a triangular hair phase after going too short. It was a true triangular nightmare that will haunt me in photos for years! After battling with my overly thick and curly/wavy hair for years after having my daughter I lost so much hair and 5.5 years later it’s still so thin that I almost wish I could go back to those triangle days!

I am a brunette with the most naughty hair on the planet. I ‘ve recently tried the keratin conditioning treatment which has tamed it into temporary submission. Humidity is the worst which is why I can only hope winter comes soon.

I am a dark blonde with highlights and most of the time my hair is nice, but this year for some reason my bangs want to do a slight flip at the ends and I have developed a wave under the first layer in the back of my hair. Wearing a graduated bob with bangs is an easy hairdo, but this new dilema is bugging me, so my hair is nice but my bangs are very, very naughty right now!
