Omm, excuse me adorable little barn-like office.  You are too cute.  And so much more…

barn office

My thoughts when I saw this image:   ” Wow, a quiet spot away from the daily hustle and noise?  I would die if I had this.  DIE!  I would probably never come out.”

Then I looked a little further and learned this is a real person’s space.  Not just a person, but a mom of six who homeschools and in her spare time wrote this best seller.  She blogs about farm life and faith over here.

After reading her bio I was in awe of her character and slowly started to feel like a complete loser because I tend to focus/worry about all the wrong things.

But then the clouds of self doubt disappeared and I saw the blue sky of encouragement when I ran across her ”10 points to joyful parenting” printable.  I needed to see this.  And promptly need to memorize it.  Point number five gave me goosebumps.  So grateful I saw this blogger’s small farm-inspired studio.  Funny how my longing for something material led me to some poignant reminders of what thoughts and ideas should truly fill my heart.  It was a good reminder.  God is tricky like that.

Read her book. She is a very talented lady. And I agree – God is tricky like that. (Love the “barn” too)

Just visited her website. She seems to be a girl who lives in harmony with the others and herself (!). She must feel herself really blessed.
You are as great as she is but in your own way! Don’t even dare to compare yourself to others!
    Have a wonderful day!

One Thousand Gifts is so beautifully and poignantly written that it burrows deeply into your heart. If you haven’t read it yet, you absolutely should. The challenge (and therein the transforming power) of listing one thousand gifts is life-changing. My most recent gifts written: the furious beat of a hummingbird’s wings; deep purple hollyhocks swaying in the breeze; rising before all my children, leaving free to putter alone in the garden.

Lovely post. I remember enjoying her book very much. Reading her bio, I teared up. Printed off the 10 points, I could always use the reminder! Perhaps #3 speaks to me more than I care to admit. Have a beautiful weekend!

One Thousand Gifts was heavy, but man can that girl write! I was surprised to see that this lovely space belonged to her… what an oasis! And yes, God is tricky like that. It’s one of the things I love most about Him – He meets us right where we are, without condemnation. Aren’t we lucky?

Ann’s book is amazing. I can only read a few pages at a time because I need time to reflect on her words. What I always remember from her book is the line, “To pay tribute to God is to pay attention.” I need that on a million post-it notes in every nook and cranny of my world! That Ann is one clever woman.

    Seleta,
Thanks, I ordered that book – and am giving it to a friend who just lost a son.
Everyone needs to look for the gifts even in the darkest moments.
