fabulous friday

It’s officially the holiday season!  I’m so excited for cooler days, holiday cheer and cozy nights by the fire with Christmas carols playing in the background (after Thanksgiving of course).  To help get you in the spirit, I have a fun little giveaway to share from Carde Blanche, a custom paper goods boutique in sunny California.  This gift will be the perfect complement to your Christmas cards and gifts.

In today’s digital age you may be asking yourself, “why paper?”  Call me old fashioned, but I love the art of a hand-written note.  There’s really nothing like opening your mail box and receiving a stylish note from a friend or family member.  Not to mention everyone should have a box of note cards on hand for quick thank you notes…I actually keep a small box in my car in case I ever need to leave a note for someone.  Plus these stationery pretties make great hostess gifts as an alternative to wine…or along with a bottle!

Carde Blanche owner, Lori, suggested we select a basket of silver-toned goodies for our winner.  We’re calling it the Simply Silver giveaway.

One lucky winner will receive a package including the following:

1.  A beautiful box of metallic chevron cards. 2.  A shimmery set of Silver Symmetry Note Cards. 3.  A set of Hi Ava cards.  The little square you see on the girl is a shiny jewel.   4.  A set of silver and gold metallic pens for writing in your cards – a perfect touch to holiday cards.  The contrast of silver or gold is dramatic against the hue of a dark envelope.  I’m also intrigued by their white pens which would be brilliant on kraft paper or labels…hello Thanksgiving place cards!   I have the metallic chevron cards and can’t wait to use them as thank you’s and festive notes for the holidays.  Love how modern they are with just the slightest touch of shimmer.

1.  Visit the Carde Blanche website and tell us what your favorite product is.  Mine is of course the chevron notecard pack.

2.  Confess which Halloween candy you pigged out on this week.  Me?  Caramel squares and milk duds….ohhh I’ve been bad.

Thanks to Carde Blanche for this festive Simply Silver giveaway.  Winner announced on Sunday.

Happy Friday, friends!

Chevron is definitely my fav too! So perfect for the holidays!…and my Halloween indulgence has to be (hands down) Candy Corn! I think I’ve actually made myself sick.

  4. Lori H says:

There truly is nothing like a hand-written note! This stationary is beautiful. I also love the cards with the houndstooth pattern, and the polka dots! Count me in, please :)

  5. Ashley C says:

Love the sparkle and velvet cards. Any chocolate left in my house from halloween has been eaten, but you can never have enough chocolate.

I like the black ric rac cards! I ate way too many nerds this week!

  9. cathy says:

My favorite is the METALLIC SYMMETRY CARDS. What a great giveaway.
Midnight Milky Ways are my passion!

  10. Laura says:

Love the chevron notecard pack too – I looked around, but those are my favorites also! Thanks for the giveaway! Favorite candy has to be snickers!

  11. Newton says:

I love the Silver Ric Rac, how cute! Fun sized snickers, and I’d do it all over again.

  12. Stephanie says:

Oooo…good giveaway! I love the Sparkle and Velvet cards.

I ate A LOT of candy corn this week – it’s one of my favorite holiday candies. :)

  13. Alyssa says:

I am loving anything and everything velvet right now, so of course I have to pick the Sparkle and Velvet Cards!

We actually had so many trick-or-treaters that there was no candy left. I did manage to snag a tootsie roll pop at my office though!

  14. Annie says:

    Three Musketeers, and too many!

I also love the chevron cards – sparkly!

  15. Helen Jackson says:

I love the Hi Ava cards. So cute for a quick note to a girlfriend! I am grossed out thinking about the number of skittles I have consumed this week!

  16. Elizabeth says:

I love the Chevron cards, but the Green puff and glitter and plaid are too cute!! Thanks for sharing this website and wonderfully creative merchant with us! They will be on my shopping list for some personalized goodies this holiday!

Oh, and I ate waaaaaay too many Reese’s cups, they were minis, but still…

  17. Nancy says:

Love the Orange Dots note cards! Everything is just beautiful though!
Would you believe I only bought the amount of candy that I thought we would give out, and made sure it was candy I didn’t like, so I didn’t eat ONE piece! Yay for me! :)

  18. Samantha says:

I like the Hi Ava cards… Too cute!
I have lost count of how many peanut M&Ms I have eaten!

  19. Michelle says:

I love the Hi Ava! Cards. They are so cute and make me so happy whenever I go to write one. I wish someone would send one to me!!! As far as candy goes, I frantically dug and pecked through my kids bowls to find a $100,000 bar. There was only ONE in the whole kitty. Bummer. But it was delish!

  20. Lauren says:

What a great paper company! I love the chevron cards and the glitter and velvet cards. I totally pigged out on Reese’s Cups and Laffy Taffy….

  21. Angela says:

The stationary is beautiful! I love the silver chevron but the “my artwork” cards are too cute! My kids would love them. Thanks for the introduction to this site.

I have consumed about 30 too many reese’s peanut butter cups! We are donating the leftover halloween candy to a local organization that will be sending to the troops. It is a worthwhile cause and a perfect excuse to get it out of the house so I don’t eat it.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  22. Kymberly says:

My favorite is the Sparkle & Velvet Cards … how perfect for birthdays, thank yous, and the list goes on…..

And Hot tamales … especially in the tiny halloween size are my weakness …. Confession: I stock up and then eat them through Christmas!

  23. Michelle says:

Of course, I would LOVE to own the sparkly silver stationery set–I just redecorated my living room adding pops of silver metallic…still trying to brave up and use the silver paint pen on my upholstery! But I have to admit, I regret not having the “My Quotable Kids.” Haven’t we all been blessed with folks telling us to be sure and “write that down?” Well, I made the mistake of always thinking,”now how could I EVER forget THAT?” Now I know the perfect baby shower gift-thanks, Seleta & you rock, Carde Blanche!
Since my girls can’t bring any nuts to school, I tried to be especially helpful by consuming all their Baby Ruths!

  24. Karen says:

Love the Sparkle & Velvet Cards.

No Halloween Candy – sugar free for health reasons.

  25. Margo Quiriconi says:

The silver dots grab my attention! Beautiful stationery. Unfortunately, I ate way too many Milky Way candy bars this week…mini, of course–how many mini candy bars equal a whole bar?!?

  26. Shauna says:

Anything Sparkly has my vote! “Sparkle & Velvet Cards” would be put to good use! And we only ended up with 8 kids to our door…so I ended up with far too many Twix and Mars bars!! :)

  27. holly says:

I love all the Carde Blanche notecards, but at the moment, the glitter note cards are my fave. And I’ve been eating peanut butter M&M’s non-stop!!!

  28. Jill says:

The metallic chevron note cards are great — chevron is my new favorite pattern for anything! However, I have a passion for ric rac, so the brown ric rac note cards are equally fabulous. I love to send a handwritten note — it is so memorable, especially when written on beautiful stationery! I am munching on a Milky Way bar with caramel apple filling — a last minute discovery when purchasing candy on Halloween. If you can find them, try them!

  29. Allison A. says:

Oh, I love this post! Recently I gave a speech to a college class and titled it, The Lost Art of Handwritten Notes. There is something so special about receiving a hand written thank you note in your mail box. It makes that person feel special…thought of. It brightens their day. I love writing them. It only takes a few minutes to do. The silver chevron notes are lovely! I’ve indulged in a few Twix lately.

  30. Anna says:

LOVE the chevron! As for candy….I ate waaaaay to many smarties!

  31. Donna says:

My fave are the Sparkle and Velvet note cards.

As for Halloween Candy, I can’t resist anything with a chocolate/caramel combination!

  32. Eileen says:

oh boy, do I have to pick just one favorite? I love stationery and I think I spied a houndstooth design, so I would pick that for my favorite. I also love plaid, and this design was darling:

As for Halloween, we haven’t even gone trick-or-treating yet because of Hurricane Sandy. We’ll be going tomorrow and I will be looking forward to some Kit-Kats!!

  33. sarah says:

orange grosgraine please……love this giveaway and would definitely use these cards. i have baby number 2 thank you notes to write!
also–no trick or treating this year. we thought baby was coming…so no candy. :(

  34. Ashley K says:

I love the sparkle and velvet cards! I an involved in a program called Chemo Angels and I write to a person undergoing treatment. These would be great!

“Borrowed” some Reese’s Pieces and a Butterfinger from my little boy’s bag last night. :)

  35. Jessica says:

I have eaten wayyyy too many twice bars! Detox in order! I love the chevron cards as well, perfect for male or female notes! Happy November!

  36. Kate says:

Love those sparkle and velvet polka dot note cards! Oh…candy that I pigged out on….those mini butterfinger squares…ugh.

  37. Carrie Z says:

Wow, sooo pretty! Silver Symmetry is my favorite. And I’ll be thrilled when candy corn is no longer so readily available….can’t stop eating. Thanks!

  38. Molly says:

    My Artwork Cards… so cute!

  39. cal says:

I love the silver chevron too! And I’ve been snackig on too many baby ruths!

  40. susie says:

Fabulous giveaway!! I love the GREEN PUFF notecards and the silver pens.

  41. karlee says:

I love the black velvet stationary. so chic. I’ve been devouring jolly ranchers. Morning sickness is killing me and I constantly have to be chewing/sucking on something!

  42. Preston says:

Silver pens. Love this company sooooo much!

  43. Kathryn C says:

My favorite is the metallic chevron cards – perfect for the holiday season. I have to confess I have “stolen” a few kit-kats from the kids’ stash – just.can’t.resist!

  44. Rachel Freeland says:

I adore the purple glitter notecards…they are exquisite.
And I must confess that my favorite Halloween candy are the orange wrapped and black wrapped faux peanut butter things that no one seems to give out anymore because my kids had 6 pounds of candy and I only found 1 piece in all of it. (We donated most to the soldiers over seas, traded to our local dentist for $1/lb!)

  45. Janette says:

I love the sparkle and velvet notecards… I can’t get past the rick rack@!

  46. Michelle says:

Oh..I am in love with the brown rick rack!

  47. Jo says:

I love the chevron & the lovely pen !!!!

  48. sydney85 says:

I think the Hi Ava cards are adorable. My weakness over Halloween has been Whopper balls.

  49. Susanna says:

I love the sparkle and velvet cards and I have been eating too much of everything… milk duds, twix and twizzlers.

  50. Dominique says:

I love the hello happy face cards. Perfect for sending someone some much needed cheer. I was a good girl and took the kids candy to the dentist for some cold hard cash. The half marathon I’m running Sunday has forced me to rethink my indulgences. :/

  51. yvonne says:

I am a huge fan of this company. I have been for years. I also agree that there is so much joy to be had in sending (and receiving!) a handwritten note…especially when it is on beautiful and fun
stationery! My current favorite: Orange Grosgrain.
As far as the candy goes, I was smart and stocked up on candy I knew I wouldn’t like.
…Then I ate tons of it anyway, got paranoid that we wouldn’t have enough for the kids…
then bought more (this time, the kinds that I do like)…and ate tons of that…and now
I am re-emerging from a blackout of sorts with multi-colored wrappers all over my house
and I am a bit demoralized, and could use a sweet handwritten note in the mail right about now…

  52. Lindsay Johnston says:

    I love the metallic cards!

I’ve been raiding the receptionist’s desk at my office for mini-kit-kats!

  53. Mo says:

I’m with you- -the metallic silver chevron are so cute! I’m full of reese’s pnut butter cups!!

  54. Emily Cliver says:

Love the silver chevron cards! And definitely going with the reese’s peanut butter cups, with skittles as a close second!

  55. Stephanie T says:

I love stationery! I agree with you the metallic chevron is great. I also like the sparkle velvet and the pink puff. What a great giveaway!!!

  56. Stephanie T says:

Oh, forgot about the candy……sweetarts have been consumed entirely too much this week.

  57. Lindsey Johnson says:

I love the metallic chevron & silver symmetry!!
I was bad on Halloween as well!!! Someone gave out reese’s pieces and I simply cannot resist them!! Or the lemon starburst! Thank you for having this contest!

  58. Tracy says:

    1. Love the sparkle and velvet cards, the Kids Quote book, (who hasn’t thought they should record some of those great kid witticisms?! One favorite was when my 2 year old daughter asked a rather stout-in-the tummy elderly gentleman neighbor when his baby was going to be born, like her soon-to-be baby brother. Yikes.) and the sparkle pens.

    2. Our Halloween celebration is postponed a week due to too many downed trees and lack of electricity, etc but I have been known to swipe all of the dark chocolate from my 3 kids’ bags…

  59. Gloria Urian says:

My favorites from the Carde Blance site are the notecards in the pink section. I love pink! The stripes are great and the poufs would be wonderful for baby shower thank-you notes. My Halloween candy overindulgence was Smartees. Not my favorite candy but I know better than to buy my favorite because of over doing it! Love your blog! Gloria

  60. Anne says:

Definitely the sparkle and velvet cards. The perfect combo!
As for the candy, I did eat a Twix, but shared with my daughter. Brownie points??

  61. Suzanne M. says:

Great giveaway thank you!! I love the Green Dot and of course the Chevron pattern.
Why is it that Halloween starts the downslide of eating everything that is bad for your diet and it lasts until New Year’s? I have eaten anything with chocolate and for some reason can’t stop eating sour patch bears!

  62. Martha B says:

I love the Silver Ric Rac cards! Pigged out on candy corn!

  63. Mary Ellen says:

I love the black rick rack! The bigger question is, what candy did I NOT consume? :)

  64. Jane Plunkett says:

What a wonderful topic! I love stationery and I really love the Pink Four Stripes stationery at Carde Blanche! It is bright, happy and pink – wonderful! Of course the best way to write a letter is with a bowlful of M&Ms within reach. Since “it melts in your mouth, not in your hands” , you won’t get chocolate on your letter and there is the added benefit of no traces to be detected by trick-0r-treaters that you’ve gotten into their treats!

  65. marika says:

The metallic chevron! And a combination of three musketeers and sugar cookies!

  66. Nicole says:

Oooh I love the symmetry cards! They’re gorgeous! I was good this week and didn’t eat ANY Halloween candy! Haha but then I made pecan pie bars & apple pie bars both in one week…

  67. K says:

The chevron are DIVINE!!!! Kit Kat was my weakness :)

  68. Kathi White says:

Love the Silver Chevron and the Silver Symmetry, too. Such classic yet current looks!

As for the Halloween candy, after tasting some sour Gummy Ghosts to see if I thought Christian ( my grandson) would like them, I had to tie my hands not to open another packet. :)

I just want to thank you for the introduction to Carde Blanche’s line. Having been enamoured with the handwritten word all my life, they will be a great source.

  69. Suzanne says:

I love the metallic Chevron as well. I agree that there is nothing like a hand-written note. Every time one of my students gives me something, I always write one. They love getting a letter from me, which I think is so sweet.

I have been eating way too many snickers this week!

  70. Susan B. says:

I love the sparkle and velvet cards!

  71. Susan B. says:

I pigged out on baby ruth’s, butterfingers, and peanut m&m’s! Pretty bad!

  72. Lolly Harrison says:

I love the metallic symmetry cards! Tough choice between those and the chevron.
I’ll have to admit, I have not pigged out on Halloween candy even though my 12 year old brought home about 15 pounds of chocolate!!

  73. suzanne says:

I love the dots, glitter and brown flowers, but agree that like Halloween candy, you can’t choose just one. You always need several note cards on hand to match the person and your mood … and you always need several kinds of chocolate on hand … today it’s Baby Ruth!

  74. Vicki says:

My Favorite is the silver velvet sequins. I have been eating WAY too many Kit Kats!

  75. R Flinte says:

My favorite is the chevron cards. I also agree with you on the importance of a hand written note. I learned the power of it a couple years ago. My mother had just died, and my grief was so raw. I received a card from an old college friend, and inside was a letter from my mother dated ten years earlier! I remember distinctly the first time I had received the letter from my mother. I was going through a difficult time in college, and my mother had written a letter to encourage me. I had shared it with my friend who was also discouraged at the time, and she had forgotten to return it. We both forgot about it after that. She happened to be going through some old college boxes the week she heard my mom died and just stumbled upon that letter. The words from my mother were written not on beautiful stationery, but are words that I will always greatly treasure. She encouraged me to keep trusting in The Lord through the difficult days and even wrote out the bible verse, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. “. Her note has encouraged me to sit and write a note to others because I never know how it may encourage and brighten someone’s day–even years later!

  76. Kristel says:

These are all so very pretty, I love to have blank cards as well, and use them quite often, I really need to get me some of the metallic pens! I am really into grey right now, and the Silver velvet sequins cards really caught my attention. I am having a real hard time keeping away from the Reeses pieces, oh my goodness, I have literally eaten so much of them. Thanks for the fun giveaway.

  77. Lane says:

My husband laughs as we buy stamps solely so I can send hand written thank you notes. The blue/pink puff is my favorite product. With many pregnant friends and my own little one these are the perfect gift for a new mom. As far as Halloween candy, I am guilty of munching one two many fun sized Snickers bars. Two lucky trick or treaters took home half of the bag so I could get them out of our house.

  78. CPK says:

i love the chevron! i pigged out on….pumpkin spice kisses!

  79. JulieK says:

Very beautiful stationery! Love the green plaid – fresh & classy. I have been enjoying candy corn for the entire month!

  80. Sandra says:

I love the aqua loops stationery since it incorporates my two favorite colors. Since we never have trick or treaters I resisted the urge to buy Halloween candy. However … I love Butterfingers.

  81. wanda says:

    I love the personalized items.

I didn’t have Halloween fun….I’m in Florida helping my mother who just began a heavy treatment of chemo/radiation. Missed the whole candy event! :)

  82. Milana T. says:

    Dear Seleta,

I oh so love your blog and oh so love the Carde Blanche stationary. I must agree with you, nothing is better than a hand written note.

My favorite has to be the Sparkle & Velvet cards. I’m an Alabama girl and we do love our houndstooth!

My pig out Halloween treat was the white chocolate covered popcorn that I made to take to a party containing Reese’s pieces, peanuts and candy corn. It was a huge hit.

    Enjoy the upcoming holiday season,

    Milana T.

    Sent from my iPad

  83. Sara Dean says:

I love the my quotable kid book but the chevron cards are a VERY close second!

  84. Benji says:

My fav. the “peace out” cards. I think they’d make great new years cards. I’ve been eating 3 musketeers bars for 5 days solid!

  85. Donna says:

    Love a handwritten note……
So many pretty items…hard to pick! Kinda favor the ric rac style and the brown glitter! M&M’s are my weakness (-:

  86. I love the Sparkle and Velvet.

  87. Dusti Wofford says:

I absolutely love the chevron cards and love to send hand written notes. They always surprise…I hate to admit but my favorite candy was heath bars. Thankfully, they are all gone!
