There is no better way to follow up with “how best to work with cream tones” than to share with you the design genius of James Radin. Have you met his work yet? Allow me…
In case you’ve seen this kitchen before and love the stripes on the bench and chairs, it’s Buoy in Bluebird by DeLany & Long and can be found over here.
And the paint color for the kitchen and living room is, in fact, White Dove by Benjamin Moore. If you were ever debating this color, this should seal the deal.
There are no words for this.
Nor this. Except to mention the fabric on the drapes, romans, and bench are Cowtan & Tout’s Sutton in aqua.
My eyes are falling out of my head from the symmetry, visual harmony, and sheer beauty of his aesthetic.
Simple, calm, uncluttered, classic.
You probably already know this, but James Radin is the designer behind the movies It’s Complicated, Something’s Gotta Give, and The Holiday. Love, love, love all the textures in the It’s Complicated home. I actually bought the movie just so I could stalk the house more. Sick? Perhaps.
Meryl Streep’s master was oh-so-cozy yet refined. I noticed on all three of the homes that in pretty much every scene you of ALL the movies you see the tiniest pop of red in the room (I’m crazy like that). Go watch and see. It’s interesting! Just don’t do this to your husband or Dad on Father’s Day, ha ha.
The only exception I could find was the Something’s Gotta Give dining room, which by the way, I am still totally obsessed with.
Well I think that should set us up for some serious paint and design inspiration.
Note: other than the paint and fabric resources I listed in this post, I do not know any other colors/fabrics from these pictures, so please no questions : ) All design by James Radin. You can see more of his work here. Photography by Karyn R. Millet.

We could be friends! When we were in the design phase of our house our architect called to tell me she had first drawings for me to see the following week and she was so excited because it reminded her of the Something’s Gotta Give house. I couldn’t wait for next week so I drove straight to the video rental store (remember those?) and my mom and I watched the movie – rewinding and pausing every scene in the house. I share your sickness ;-)
Haha haaa haa, that is so awesome Sheryl!!!

These pics are beautiful! I have all white walls, but this makes me think for when we re paint! Do you know the fabric on the bench in the room with the tub? It looks black/ charcoal with blue, but my monitor could be off. Thanks!
Sorry about the question, I just read the last sentence:)
I’m with you on the cream dining room. Love this designer’s work, he’s incredible. I see a tone on tone bedroom in my future.
I totally notice the little red details too. I think I’m going to switch my bookshelves to White Dove soon. XOXO.
Thanks for the intro. His work gives me so many ideas.
I’m officially a cream bedroom convert.
Oh my gosh…..love all the rooms. I’m definitely going to use this post when decorating my next home. Love it all.
Love the ideas!
So lovely, I love his work! Those first few photos are actually the home of Giuliana Rancic’s sister and was also the house in the movie This is 40 – LOVE that house!
I bought It’s Complicated for $5 at Target about a month ago just so I could see the house and have yet to find the time to watch it… maybe tonight??
Enjoy your weekend, Seleta! :)
