Some weeks, like this one, my brain feels about as sensible as a bucket of dirt when I try to write anything remotely intelligent. I believe the culprit is my recent after-hours work I’ve been up to while the kids sleep – preparation for our upcoming Nutcracker. So bear with me as I clench my cup of green tea to avoid tipping face first onto my keyboard.
Do you mind if we just totally numb out and look at pretty pictures together? Great.
I saw this image yesterday and just sat and stared. And stared. Tried to figure out why exactly I loved this whole look so much. I think what grabbed me is the mismatched vintage silverware and formality against the rustic, no sheen table. Yes, a see a farmhouse table in our future! Although I might need to wish for a farmhouse table fairy to magically drop one off.
Then I saw this. Equally delightful. I was going to
hoard save this pic for an upcoming organizing post, but reminded myself it’s way better to just share it now. Again, I love the hint of formality with rustic touches. Oh that chunky frame housing pretty swatches and special notes. If this were my space, I’d swap out the pillow with something a little more graphic, but it’s still a lovely grouping. Couldn’t find the source on this image – anyone?
Last but not least, this simple little tablescape caught my attention. I love everything about this grouping – the reality of having “stuff” yet the stylish way of keeping it organized. The swirly mirror with a rustic finish adds architectural interest on what could otherwise be considered a “boring white wall.” There is no such thing as a boring white wall – just be sure to always add a little pop.
Moral of the story: mixing rustic and formal is a beautiful thing.
