After the holidays I tend to feel somewhat delayed getting back “in the game.” I think it has something to do with experiencing six weeks of pure holiday indulgence – music, festive lights, parties, anticipation, and cheer followed by an abrupt ending. You wake up one day and it’s all over. Poof, gone. No transition period. Back to the reality of work, schedules, and deadlines. It leaves me feeling…well, stuck in neutral.
As I sat down to write a post today, I felt a little stumped. Couldn’t really get my brain around one topic. But after thinking about it a little, I realized neutral is okay. It can be a lovely place. It’s a time to relax. While it’s certainly not a state of action, it can be a state of reflection. And that is is a good thing.
Speaking in terms of fashion and design, neutral is a palette which always feels good to me. No matter the season, I almost always gravitate to neutral.
If this outfit were a space, I would imagine it to be something like this beautiful room. This space has such a feeling of comfort and harmony.
Similar to design, neutral in life is necessary. It gives us a chance to appreciate the overall landscape of life which is strung together with adventure, colorful events, and moments of merriment. Neutral is an emotional reprieve. I find it comforting. Today the house was quiet and the kids went back to school. I looked around and realized I have a TON to clean up. But I decided not to stress. I’m going to sit back and coast a little while longer in neutral.
