wednesday white prep

Today felt like a navy and white kind of day.  Very preppy.

Sported these stripey pants and this new white button down by super chic boutique, Claridge + King.  I had never been introduced to their clothes until they kindly sent this to me as a gift.  Their whole website and inventory rocks, by the way.  I absolutely lovvvve the top.  Thank you, Liz!  The quality of material and expert tailoring blows away any of my other button downs.  Wearing this was a great reminder that I need to be more selective in what I purchase.  Invest in several quality pieces versus many sale and impulse items.  I can tell this classic top will last for years.

I’m a fan of all things classic.  You really can’t go wrong surrounding yourself with simple, timeless, and lovely items.  Funny how many of those classics are white.  Like a white button down, a string of pearls, or a batch of white roses.

One final reminder.  I couldn’t agree more!

That is such a classic and stylish outfit! I love it. My mom is a huge fan of your blog as well, and she adores your bed that we can see a snippet of in the background of this picture – do you mind sharing where the bed is from?

I was wondering how that shirt fits. Is it true to size; I know it is described as fitted, but on the model in their website, it looks blouse-y. What would you say? I kind of straddle two sizes.

    Hi Dana,

The top is not as slim fitted on me as other brands, but is still trim. On the other hand, I’m very narrow through my ribs and waist. I usually wear a 2 in tops and have on an XS in this particular top.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Emily,

Sorry for delay, just noticed your question. I’m not sure where the bed is from – it came with the house, ha!!

Several choices if I was getting 48 hour vacay…to Delray Beach, FL to see my daughter and her boyfriend…would get to see how they have been decorating their new house. I would wear the necklace with a simple navy tunic, white jeans and navy espadrilles to take these two favorite people out for a nice dinner on Atlantic Avenue. Next choice would be to head down to Washington DC to see my son and his fiancee and I would wear this with jeans, shirt and sweater while we walked around the Mall and visited museums. And I could also see me wearing this on the dress I am wearing to the rehearsal dinner we are giving for them in early September. And finally I would wear this to go out east (what we who live on Long Island, NY call the twin forks at the end of the island) with my husband where we would stay in a good B and B, wander our favorite vineyards-especially Croteaux and I would wear this necklace for our wandering during the day with jeans, a long sweater and flats and then with a nice silk shirt, linen pants and a shawl while we have dinner at The Frisky Oyster in Greenport, NY to celebrated our 34 years of marriage.
