moonpies + moonboy

Last week I read one of my favorite children’s books to my youngest’s preschool class.  It’s called Moonboy by Carolyn Garcia.  This is a great book to add to your collection or include in your summer reading program at home.  I’ve read this book to my children countless times and they always love it.

Moon Boy is a fave of mine because of its heartfelt message and colorful, imaginative illustrations that easily keep a child engaged. It’s your basic fish out of water story – a character named Moonboy, who is far different from the other children, travels from the moon down to earth to make friends but is rejected based upon his unusual looks.  The story has a happy ending and takes the young reader on a thought-provoking journey filled with entertaining exchanges.  The message teaches the importance of accepting others for what’s in their heart versus what’s on the outside.  A great message for children and adults alike.

Of course I had to bring these moonpies for them to nibble on after our book.  That was a hit.

Here is the class.  My little guy is the one holding the book.

You can find Moonboy just about anywhere.  It’s written for children ages 4 – 9.  Here is a link if you think you may want to pick up a copy.

Happy Moon Monday!

wednesday write

Today I’m setting aside the computer and taking some time write a few notes to friends.  I think there’s something so charming about receiving a handwritten note in the mail.  It’s the simple things that sometimes bring a smile.

QUESTION: Do you still enjoy the art of penmanship?

pretties + poufs

I’m sure by now most of you have seen the Calypso Collection at Tarjay.  I was introduced to it for the first time yesterday while running some last minute errands.  All I can say is I lost my train of thought as well as my self control.  I was mesmerized with the quality stitching in the embroidery and pops of sea inspired tones.  As a result, my oldest daughter racked up.  A few little girl items I loved…

This soft little tank in the color lime punch.  Who could say no to that flavor?

Perfect little summer skirt as a tank companion.

This girly, bohemian dress.

An irresistible, sparkly beach tote.

And I couldn’t help but snag these sassies pour moi.  I’ll give them the 30 minute test drive at home to see if they’re keepers.  If I can comfortably chase my five year old in them, these bad boys are mine.

The biggest question I have is why couldn’t our store have carried any of their amazing poufs from that collection?!?  You know those were probably so gone the second they hit the internet.

If you’re heartbroken from not getting one of Target’s Calypso poufs and still aching to have one in your life, I did find this cute pouf collection for $211 each over at overstock.  And this beautiful blue pouf for only $199 on Amazon.  They both look similar to the John Derian pouf collection and are about $90 – $100 less.  Let me show you…

The imposter.

The John Derian.

Quite similar, oui?
