oday I’m setting aside the computer and taking some time write a few notes to friends. I think there’s something so charming about receiving a handwritten note in the mail. It’s the simple things that sometimes bring a smile.

moonpies + moonboy
Last week I read one of my favorite children’s books to my youngest’s preschool class. It’s called Moonboy by Carolyn Garcia. This is a great book to add to your collection or include in your summer reading program at home. I’ve read this book to my children countless times and they always love it.
Moon Boy is a fave of mine because of its heartfelt message and colorful, imaginative illustrations that easily keep a child engaged. It’s your basic fish out of water story – a character named Moonboy, who is far different from the other children, travels from the moon down to earth to make friends but is rejected based upon his unusual looks. The story has a happy ending and takes the young reader on a thought-provoking journey filled with entertaining exchanges. The message teaches the importance of accepting others for what’s in their heart versus what’s on the outside. A great message for children and adults alike.
Of course I had to bring these moonpies for them to nibble on after our book. That was a hit.
Here is the class. My little guy is the one holding the book.
You can find Moonboy just about anywhere. It’s written for children ages 4 – 9. Here is a link if you think you may want to pick up a copy.
Happy Moon Monday!
